A joint Nottingham, Loughborough, Birmingham & Ulster universities' Centre; for PhD hydrogen research
The Sustainable Hydrogen (SusHy) Centre for Doctoral Training is a collaboration between the Universities of Nottingham, Loughborough, Birmingham and Ulster. The SusHy CDT has four overarching centre objectives:
*Deliver high quality transdisciplinary training, covering fundamental science, applied engineering, and systems issues and build an appreciation of societal barriers to innovation.

At the Hydrogen Technology Expo in Hamburg, Germany, a panel of representatives emphasised that harmonisation – among countries and between the public and private sectors – is essential to achieving the Net Zero by 2050 scenario which requires more than 500 million tonnes of hydrogen production to meet global decarbonisation targets.

In addition to the University's events, which are listed in the link below, you can also take part in events across Birmingham.
Black History Month 2023 October is Black History Month and the University will again be celebrating the culture and histories of black and minority ethnic communities with a comprehensive programme of events.

By emphasising this theme, we shine a brighter light on stories, allegories, and histories that underscore our commitment to correcting historical inaccuracies and showcasing the untold success stories and the full complexity of Black heritage.

Renault is promising that the fuel cell and electric motor tech will provide a range of 435 miles (700km) on a single tank of hydrogen whatever the weather. It also notes that a refuel takes just five minutes. Time is money, people.

The SusHy CDT students as part of the getwiththeh2ype team, will have a stall at the Green Man Festival this week (15-18 August), similar to the Glastonbury Festival outreach they did in June, the team will be educating the festival goers with the aid of their hydrogen demonstrators. National Highways has started procurement for hydrogen supply over the five-year construction period of the Lower Thames Crossing, a new road tunnel linking Essex and Kent.
This initiative aims to reduce the carbon footprint of the project, which is intended to alleviate congestion on the Dartford Crossing, part of the M25.
The operator of England’s motorways said the project aims to explore “carbon neutral” construction methods.

When the first non-stop flight around the world in a hydrogen-powered aeroplane takes place in four years time', it will contain parts that have been developed and made in Derbyshire. Syensquo, based in Heanor, is a major part of the emission-free historical flight of Climate Impulse, which aims to be a flagship for climate action when it makes its nine-day flight in 2028.

Exeter Airport are set to start a series of trials later this year, introducing hydrogen-fuelled ground support equipment (GSE) in an attempt to reduce carbon emissions from airport ground operations.
The groundbreaking drive is part of the ‘Zero Carbon Turn’ Project, a research collaboration made of airport owner Regional and City Airports, the global travel company TUI and Cranfield University.
