As August draws to a close i would like to dedicate our summer HAF 2026 to our Colleague and friend, Sue Lacey who sadly passed away earlier this summer.
Sue has been a huge part of Grade A Sports and in particular the HAF programme. When we began our HAF journey the part we knew we had to get right was the food, up stepped Sue. Working in catering most of her life Sue took control of all things food, setting up menus, teaching staff and spending hours around all the supermarkets finding us the most cost effective way to feed 100's of children. Sue was also responsible for creating our food education programs which have had a huge impact across all of our sessions. In my opinion, our meals served at HAF and wraparound are the best around, Sue just woudnt accept serving the children beans on toast but rather a full chicken dinner with all the trimmings, a model we now follow for all of our wraparound sessions. How she found the time i will never know but nothing was ever too much, she really was superwoman.
I will be eternally grateful for the support Sue gave to us, she has left a lasting impact on me, Grade A Sports and our community she fed with a smile on her face. We feel her absence each session she is not with us but every HAF period we will remember Sue and continue her great work.
Our love and thoughts go to our colleagues Lloyd and Evie and the rest of the Lacey family.
Thanks for everything, Sue. โค๏ธ
