It’s an eldest daughter epidemic 🙈
Eldest daughters really do move through life like unpaid emotional support coordinators.
Organising.
Remembering.
Fixing.
Anticipating needs before anyone’s even said them out loud.
And because you’re “capable”
people stop checking if you’re actually okay.
So you keep going.
Even when your body’s screaming at you to stop.
Then eventually you have that moment.
Usually tired.
Usually overwhelmed.
Usually rage-cleaning the kitchen.
Where you suddenly think:
“What about me though?”
And honestly?
That question changes everything.

This has been a big one for me.
I’ve always loved clothes.
Putting outfits together, feeling like me in what I’m wearing, having a bit of fun with it.
And lately?
Some days I just stand there and feel completely overwhelmed.
Nothing feels quite right.
My body’s changing.
My brain feels foggy.
And even small decisions feel like a lot.
It would be very easy to turn that into:
“What’s wrong with me?”
“Why can’t I just get on with it?”
“I’m overthinking this”
But I don’t.
Because I understand what’s actually happening.
My nervous system is stretched.
My window of tolerance is smaller some days.
There’s more going on underneath the surface than it looks like from the outside.
So instead of forcing myself through it…
I meet myself there.
With a bit more patience
A bit more compassion
A bit less pressure to have it all together
And it changes everything.
Not overnight.
But enough that I’m not fighting myself all the time.
This is the work.
Not fixing yourself.
Understanding yourself.
And I’ll be honest with you…
Most women don’t start this until they’re completely burnt out.
