๐ŸŽจ๐ŸŒธ Little Artists at Work! ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŽจ

Weโ€™ve had lots of colourful, messy fun today creating our beautiful flowers! ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒบ

The children used their fingers to paint, exploring the different colours and discovering what happened when they mixed colours together to create brand-new ones. There was lots of excitement as they watched the colours change! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š

Finger painting is such a lovely sensory activity and gives the children opportunities to develop their creativity, fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, while experimenting with colour, texture and cause and effect.

Most importantly, they had lots of fun getting their fingers messy and creating their own unique masterpieces! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐ŸŽจ

What a fantastic week weโ€™ve had at Little Gems! ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿž๐Ÿ’š

This week has been full of adventure, exploration and laughter. We loved exploring the woods, searching high and low on our minibeast hunt, and discovering all kinds of amazing animals along the way. ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ๐Ÿฆ‹

Our adventures continued at the park, where the children climbed, ran, balanced and built their confidence through active play. Their imaginations have been incredible too, turning sticks into magic wands, logs into pirate ships and the woodland into a world of exciting adventures. ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธโœจ

Most importantly, weโ€™ve shared lots of smiles, made wonderful memories and had so much fun with our friends. These moments help build confidence, communication, teamwork and a lifelong love of learning through play.

We canโ€™t wait to see what next weekโ€™s adventures bring! โค๏ธ

Today we headed out on a little blackberry-picking adventure! ๐Ÿซ๐Ÿƒ

The children loved searching for the ripest blackberries, carefully picking them, and talking about where fruit comes from. Back at Little Gems, we used our freshly picked blackberries to make a delicious homemade apple and blackberry crumble. ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿฅง The smell filled the room, and everyone enjoyed tasting the finished treatโ€”it was absolutely delicious!

We also had lots of fun playing our โ€œSour or Sweet?โ€ game, where the children tasted the blackberries and described them as sweet, sour, or juicy, helping to develop their language, communication, and sensory awareness.

A wonderful day of exploring nature, learning, baking, and making happy memories together. ๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŒฟ

We have had a very creative afternoon using pipettes to make colourful caterpillars and mixing colours in water. The children did a great job using their pincer grip and hand eye coordination to put the coloured water onto the cotton pads ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ›

The beauty of mixed-age learning โค๏ธ

One of the things I love most about childminding is seeing children of different ages learn from one another.

Here we have our little one-year-old watching and copying what the three-year-olds do. Every day theyโ€™re learning important life skills together โ€“ taking turns, following routines, looking out for each other, and learning how to stay safe.

The older children naturally become wonderful role models, building their confidence, kindness, and sense of responsibility, while the younger children learn through observation and imitation. Itโ€™s amazing to watch these friendships grow and see how much they all benefit from being together.

Moments like these remind me why I love what I do. Iโ€™m so proud of every one of these little learners and the caring relationships theyโ€™re building every day. ๐Ÿ’›

Today we explored the beautiful colours of nature by creating our own Nature Colour Palette. Inspired by this, we used colourful translucent petals to design their own unique flowers, celebrating creativity and the beauty of nature.

๐ŸŒฟ Nature Colours in the Woods ๐ŸŒˆ

Today we explored the beautiful colours of nature by matching leaves, flowers, seeds, and petals to a rainbow of colours. ๐Ÿƒ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒบ

This simple outdoor activity offers so many wonderful benefits for children:
๐ŸŒฟ Encourages observation and curiosity.
๐ŸŽจ Develops colour recognition and matching skills.
๐Ÿ‚ Builds an appreciation and respect for nature.
๐Ÿ’š Supports mindfulness and wellbeing through time outdoors.
๐Ÿ–๏ธ Strengthens fine motor skills while collecting and arranging natural treasures.
๐Ÿง  Sparks creativity, language, and conversations about the natural world.

Thereโ€™s no better classroom than the great outdoors. Every walk becomes an adventure, and every season brings new colours to discover.

What colours can you find on your next woodland walk? ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒˆ
