Year 8 Lake District Adventure 🏔️

What an unforgettable experience for our Year 8 pupils on their recent trip to the Lake District!

Over the course of the visit, pupils challenged themselves through a range of exciting outdoor activities, including scaling Harter Fell before spending a night wild camping on the mountain, tackling the thrills of ghyll scrambling, & developing their teamwork & water skills through canoeing & kayaking on Coniston Water.

As a highlight of the Year 8 journey & a fitting way to cap off their time at Town Close, the trip provided countless opportunities for personal growth, adventure & friendship. Despite facing some challenging weather conditions, our pupils demonstrated outstanding resilience, determination & positivity throughout.

The staff were incredibly proud of the way pupils embraced every challenge, supported one another & stepped outside their comfort zones. Their encouragement, teamwork & perseverance were evident at every stage of the trip.

A huge well done to all involved for making the experience such a memorable success. These are the moments & memories that will stay with them long after they leave Town Close. 🌦️⛺🚣‍♀️🏞️

🌊🐚 Year 3 Adventure at West Runton Beach! 🐚🌊

Our Year 3 pupils had a fantastic day exploring the beautiful West Runton Beach in North Norfolk.

The children became young explorers as they took part in a range of exciting activities, including fossil hunting & rock pooling, discovering the fascinating treasures hidden along the shoreline. They, also, learned about the habitats of local wildlife & the importance of protecting our coastal environment, exploring how our actions can have an impact on these special ecosystems.

Of course, no trip to the seaside would be complete without a delicious ice cream, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone! 🍦☀️

A wonderful day of hands-on learning, outdoor adventure, & seaside fun. Well done, Year 3! 🌟

📚 We are delighted to announce that our Guest Speaker for this year’s Prize Day will be the award-winning Norfolk-based author, Emma Healey.

Emma is the acclaimed author of 'Elizabeth is Missing', 'Whistle in the Dark' & 'Sweat'. Her debut novel, 'Elizabeth is Missing', sold more than one million copies worldwide, was translated into 26 languages, won the Costa First Novel Award, & was later adapted into a BBC film. Her most recent novel has also been optioned for screen adaptation.

Emma’s journey to becoming a bestselling author is an inspiring one. After studying bookbinding, she worked in libraries, bookshops, art galleries & universities before completing an MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia (UEA) before embarking on her literary career.

As we celebrate the National Year of Reading 2026, we are especially excited to welcome Emma to share her experiences, her love of books, & the story behind her remarkable success.

We look forward to what promises to be a fascinating & inspiring occasion.

Year 5 enjoyed a fascinating History trip to the Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell, where they explored what has helped make Norwich such a Fine City.

The children delved into Norwich’s rich industrial heritage, learning about the city’s famous shoe, mustard & chocolate industries. Through hands-on exploration of historical artefacts & exhibits, they discovered what life was like for the workers who powered these thriving businesses, examining the tools they used & the products they created.

It was a wonderful opportunity to bring their learning to life, deepening their understanding of Norwich’s history & the people whose hard work helped shape the city we know today.
