As a treat for Father’s Day some of our dads and granddad’s came to Beehive to build dens. We used a wide range of materials and created some really impressive structures, either as a family unit or working together with others. The children got really involved carrying objects back and forth as they worked out what they could use to create their den.
Maybe you could replicate this activity in your own garden as all you basically need is loads of left over items and junk! It would be great to see pictures of dens in your own gardens.
Thank you for making the morning so enjoyable!

Last half term the Honeycomb children planted some sunflower seeds and looked after them, watching them grow each week. Today it was time to plant them in the garden as they have grown too big for their pots. All the children really enjoyed using the gardening tools to transfer compost into the containers and then using their fingers to poke holes for their plants. They also gave them a nice big drink of water when they had finished. We have placed one of the containers by the gate under our display board so make sure you check on the sunflowers when you arrive at Beehive!

Today we have been learning about St. George and how he slayed the dragon to save the King’s daughter. In the Hive we made shields just like St. George had in the pictures and we coloured in pictures of the dragon and the flag. In the Honeycomb we coloured in pictures of the dragon and painted the St. George flag. Lots of us came in dressed in red, white and blue to celebrate.

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who was a part of our Spring Fayre on Friday. Thank you to the families that came and enjoyed the afternoon, those that bought and sold raffle tickets, the children who made some wonderful Easter bonnets, the staff who baked and who volunteered their time to run the fayre, and to Hannah for co-ordinating another fantastic event. We couldn't have done it without you all, and we raised an impressive £353.45 for our fundraising pot, so THANK YOU!

What fun the Honeycomb children had in the garden this morning! We went outside when the snow first started and the caught the snowflakes in our hands. Then, when the snow became thicker, it was all very exciting and the children decided they wanted to explore creating dinosaur footprints in the snow! They even helped make a snowman called Arlo!

What a fantastic week we have had celebrating Storytelling week. We would like to say a massive thank you to all of the parents and teachers, who kindly took the time to come into the setting a read a story to all of the children. The children and staff have listened to a wide range of stories including Handa’s Surprise, The Gruffalo, Oi Frog, Owl babies and even an old traditional book from the Czech Republic.

Today the children engaged in lots of number activities including, number writing, creating their own foot rulers, physical number games, number songs and stories. Thank you for all of your kind donations to the NSPCC
