This is absolutely outrageous We must do whatever we can to protect this much-needed funding for refugees. Please add your name to the letter now, and tell others to do so as well. Thank you.
Emergency action: sign the letter - Refugee Council
Sign the letter and call on the Government to overturn the sudden decision to withdraw £1.2 million of vital support for thousands of refugees in the UK in the event of a no-deal Brexit at the end of this month. Read the full letter below.

Why are more people fleeing home than ever before?
The number of people uprooted across the globe stands at a record 71 million. Why are so many on the move?

Norwich and Central Norfolk MIND celebrates its 50th anniversary at The Forum this coming Saturday 27th August. The event is free, takes place between 11 and 4pm, and should be both informative and fun.
As well as being a dedicated campaigner for better mental health, MIND organises the annual Festival of Cultures in Norwich. The Festival provides people an opportunity to meet and make new friends and learn about other cultures. It also aims to strengthen local community spirit and forge partnership working for a more cohesive society. Worth supporting!

Really pleased that after dragging its feet for so long, the county council has finally voted to accept 50 Syrian refugees to live in the Norwich area. Norfolk has a long and proud history of welcoming 'strangers' and people in need over many centuries. We must now do all we can to provide a better future for these long-suffering and traumatised people. In their hour of greatest need, they deserve nothing less.

Delighted that the county council has just passed a motion condemning hate crime in all forms. These crimes don't just damage the victims and their families, they strike at the very heart of our communities. We must work even more closely together to challenge prejudice. People in Norfolk have a reputation for being kind, generous and welcoming, and we must not let a small minority of people spoil it..

Looks like the terrible event which occurred last Thursday will have a happy ending. Great to welcome the Romanian ambassador to Norwich, and well done to everybody that has supported the owners of the Village Shop.

Romanian ambassador praises Norwich’s reaction to arson attack on city shop
Our city’s outpouring of love and support for the owners of a Romanian shop which was targeted by an arsonist is an example to the rest of the Britain, the country’s ambassador has said.

Really disappointed that I couldn't get to last night's rally at City Hall in support of the EU and Norwich's international communities. Brilliant that more than 1000 people attended the event, So important to show our solidarity during these difficult and uncertain times.

Pozdrawiam Was serdecznie
Brian

Fantastic response from the people of Norwich in support of the Romanian shop that's been damaged by arson on Thursday evening. So far, nearly £30,000 has been raised by over 2,000 good-hearted people in and around Norwich. Thanks to this generosity, it looks as though the shop will be open again soon.

I know that many of you share my dismay at the UK's decision to leave the European Union (EU) in the referendum held last week. It is a deeply disappointing and upsetting outcome. The politicians who have supported 'Brexit' appear to have no coherent plan in place about what happens next. The decision to leave will do great damage to this country and its standing in the world.
However, I have a message for all my friends from other EU countries (and their families) living in the Norfolk and Norwich area, and who are truly fearful about the future. We will stand by you!
You are still greatly valued members of our community, and the place you have made your home continues to welcome you.
Please don't despair because nothing will change overnight. The UK's negotiation process with the EU will take at least two years to complete, and I am sure that the rights of people like yourselves who already live here, will be properly safeguarded.
with best wishes
Brian .

Met with our website designer last Saturday. Looking at making a few minor changes to the content, and one or two new photos might go down well too!
