Sometimes it is worth reminding ourselves just how lucky we are to work with children. To support them. To help them develop into fully rounded adults. To be that safe space they need. To nurture them. Not many people who get to do something this satisfying for a living.

This is BIG news! An international day of PLAY 🙌🏻🙌🏻

In June 2023 at our Triennial Conference, IPA World members voted unanimously to support advocacy for a UN declared International Day of Play.

To drive this ambition forward, the International Play Association (IPA World) was part of a dedicated network of global organisations, play experts and, most importantly, children & youth themselves, who called on UN member states to support the resolution for an International Day of Play.

We are proud to announce that on Monday 25 March 2024, the UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution to hold an annual international awareness day for play.

The INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PLAY will be held on JUNE 11, 2024 and annually thereafter.

A special thanks to all the partners who worked on this from across the corporate and NGO sector and especially the children and young people across the world who contributed to surveys and workshops and the call to action from Children.

We look forward to sharing more information with members over the coming days!!

10am - 11am : Squad training

11am -12 noon : Karate

12pm -1pm : Kombat Kobudo (weapons training).

1pm -2pm : Ju-jitsu

2:30pm - 3:30pm : Karate - Norwich United Karate project, Refugee class (open to all)

THREE DAY FOREST FUN CAMPS IN THE EASTER HOLIDAYS

For children aged 5-11 years
9:00am to 3:00pm each day
On The Wild Meadow, by Beccles Common
£115 per child per three-day camp

It is going to be eggs-cellent and totally brilliant to be hatching plans with the children who come to our Easter Camp. We'll crack the day open with a circle, we'll be eggshausted by lunch and need a rest and refuel, then in the afternoon we'll look at life sunny side up and finish with a story or a song. There will be crafts, freeplay, games, fun and exploring, as well as a chance to just be at one with nature.

Tax-free childcare accepted. For eligible families, childcare costs can be claimed back for these sessions.

Sharing is also turn taking, this can be a barrier for all children (and adults) who are not yet confident in their own play frame. Developing a sense of self is the principal step.

Step back... in play the child is capable!

A lot of the time, our help gets in the way of their play.

Problem solving cannot develop when we step in to fix problems for them.

Lengthy attention spans cannot develop when we interrupt with our questions, praise, frequent warnings and entertainment.

Self-confidence and self-motivation cannot develop when we prompt them into being ready when we think they are, instead of when they are.

Self-direction and creativity develop when we stop having ideas for them, such as setting up activities and directing them.

Physical agility and spatial awareness cannot develop when we help them to balance or climb, or put them into positions that are way beyond their own capabilities.

Risk management and working within oneʼs own capabilities are impossible when there are ‘helping hands’ managing them beyond their own capabilities.

Nature Play - take a step back and observe your child at play

Have you got a youngster who loves to run, jump, climb and swing? Parkour could be just their thing!

TPF-Parkour offer regular SEN sessions and have organised extra sessions in support of , limited to 15 people per session.
