You know your child is struggling. The meltdowns seem to come from nowhere or they are seeming more with drawn. You’ve been told behaviour is a form of communication but this isn’t providing the support you need. You and your family are finding it hard to cope with everyday situations. Children don’t often have the words to express their feelings. Which is why we offer safe spaces for children to communicate their feelings through play. Through play children can begin to build emotional resilience, improve self-esteem, develop emotional regulation skills and feel more understood.
If you’re worried about your child’s emotional wellbeing and would like to learn more about therapeutic play, I’d be happy to have a conversation.

I used to run a nursery. It was one of my all time favourite roles. I introduced loose parts and real life objects and attended training with the wonderful Anna Ephgrave. I embedded planning in the moment and the children were always engaged. Early years will always have my heart.

All children have particular interests and one of my favourite part of my jobs is listening and finding out about the young people I work with. This then gives me dirás of how to plan the sessions. I often get asked to support with maths because that is the area children loose confidence, my role is to build that confidence back up.

It’s so lovely to able to adapt and change sessions based on energy levels on the day. Children really thrive in my sessions because they feel heard and held.
If this is something you feel your child could benefit from, a child centred playful approach to learning, which is lead by their pace. Then get in touch. I can support your child to gain confidence in their learning all through play.

Something you may not know about me…
For the past 25 years, my family has had a house in Southern Spain. Nestled in a tiny village, it has become so much more than a holiday destination, it feels like home.
I grew up spending time here, making memories, building friendships with local families, and becoming part of a community that has welcomed us year after year. It’s a place where life slows down, the sunshine works its magic, and we truly relax and recharge.
This half term has been especially special because we’ve been able to share that experience with our own children and watch them fall in love with it just as I did all those years ago. Seeing them explore the village, enjoy the simple pleasures, and create their own memories has been incredibly heartwarming.
We know how fortunate we are to have this little corner of the world in our lives, and we’ve treasured every moment of switching off, reconnecting, and simply enjoying each other’s company.

Using role play to explore different scenarios is a really useful tool. It can used for things that have happened in the past or events that may be coming up. I use it when a doctors appointment is looming. We take it in turns to role play doctor and patient. This demystifies the appointment and gives children confidence when attending places they haven’t been before. How do you use role play at home with your children?

As parents it’s easy to get carried away with activities and days out that we think our children will enjoy but have you taken the time to observe and then join in with their ideas. By following a child’s lead it enables the child to feel seen and heard. Be the astronaut, play shops let your child lead the direction of play and see where it takes you.
