You never really know where your work will end up.

A client sent me this message today:

I've promised to keep them anonymous, so their team's illusion is safe.

It reminded me that we rarely see the full impact of something we've created. People often find ways to use it that we never imagined.

That is one of the greatest compliments I could receive.

Thank you.

A beautiful bouquet of flowers arrived on my doorstep yesterday from a client I worked with two years ago.

Along with them was a note thanking me for always being in her corner.

It made me think.

In business, we often talk about customer journeys, retention and lifetime value.

But some relationships don't fit neatly into those boxes.

Because the best work isn't transactional.

It's transformational.

People move on. Businesses grow. People grow. Seasons change.

Yet years later, they still remember how you made them feel when things were uncertain, overwhelming or when they simply needed somebody who believed in them.

That's a privilege I never take lightly.

The sessions may end.

But caring never really does.

And I have to say, I genuinely have some of the most wonderful clients anyone could wish for.

People laugh at me when I say gardening, nature and business are deeply connected.
But honestly… they are.

Six years ago, I started my business with a clear vision of what I thought success would look like.
Five years ago, I bought a beautiful white wisteria.

I’ve nurtured both ever since.

Feeding them. Supporting growth. Cutting back what no longer served them. Patiently waiting for results.
And over the years, my business has rewarded me with incredible wins, opportunities and moments I never could have predicted.

It’s also handed me disappointment, frustration and seasons where progress felt painfully slow.

Much like the wisteria.
For five years it behaved terribly. Plenty of green growth… but not a flower in sight.

Then this year, finally, one glorious bud appeared.

Except… it’s pink.

Not white.

And I stood there laughing because honestly, isn’t that exactly what building a business feels like sometimes?

You set out with one vision.
You work relentlessly towards it.
And somewhere along the way, what grows looks completely different to what was written on the tin.

Not worse.
Just different.

I think a lot of business owners quietly punish themselves because the reality doesn’t perfectly match the original dream.

But maybe growth was never supposed to look identical to the plan.

Maybe the point is that despite the setbacks, the pruning, the waiting and the uncertainty…

Something still bloomed.

Even if it arrived in a different colour than expected.
