Families past and present will know we've been working hard on our outdoor area over the last few years.
Next on the list is some new units for the children to be able to self select resources and a mud kitchen. Jenny, as you'll know is quite short đ so wood working can be tricky as work benches etc can be too high. FB reels meant Jenny saw the genius idea of using a circular saw on celotex but no way could we afford to pay for it just to cut it up!
Jewson to the rescue with 2 pieces as a donation! Thank you so much, the children will very much enjoy the resources and with 2 sheets I'll be able to make more projects in future!

It is with great pleasure we are now in a position to share our Manager Jenny's personal Ofsted report for her childminding registration (run from the same premises as JCB's) where she achieved OUTSTANDING in all areas!!!
Jenny takes great pride in fighting for every child to have access to the very best support and is constantly trying to improve the setting and herself to provide, know and learn more so that every child in attendance is truly valued as the wonderful unique individual they are regardless of starting points and is supported to achieve their absolute best. The sentence "The childminders support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is exemplary" was particularly nice to read.
So? What now? While we are very proud of our good grading and the report was an excellent reflection of us, what are our plans moving forward? Simply, training, training and more training. We have a core team of passionate staff who are determined to follow in Jenny's footsteps and learn all that they can. With staff enrolled on level 3 courses, level 5 courses, numerous short courses etc and Jenny normally on at least 1 course though often 2 or 3 ,that she then shares with staff for their development. The setting will continue to learn, build and push to provide the absolute best for every child and we thank all of those families who have trusted us to care for their children enabling us to build experience, understanding and skills.

Did you know that it's been 10 years since Jenny started moving from being a lone childminder to a domestic nursery? JCB's Childcare accepted it's first children in September 2015 (with the official registration coming later). Even the youngest of those children are now in high school! đą
So, what did we do to celebrate 10 amazing years?
We refitted a very beloved resource, our Wendy house, to look all fresh and my goodness the children have loved it! You can also spot a very cheeky puppy trying to explore it.
We also had a visit from Ofsted and I am very proud to share our report. When we're inspected we're not allowed to share our grade until we have the final report and it's felt like a very long wait! We achieved a good in all areas with the inspector recognising how hard we work to ensure all children in the setting are valued.
My favourite quotes reference our work to support our many children with individual needs and unique challenges.
We have worked hard to live up to our reputation for really caring and prioritising the needs of every child in our care regardless of their strengths, difficulties, background etc so it's really nice to see that recognised by Ofsted.
As you know, Jenny also has a registration with Ofsted and this was inspected at the same time. We held off on this post for a day in the hopes to share both together but, it's not arrived and we couldn't contain our excitement any more. So, that will hopefully be shared tomorrow đ¤đ¤

This is such an awesome idea. I'm not sure where it's based but it deserves a share. So many of our children past and present would love this.

'W' sitting is a common childhood trait especially among those who may have motor coordination difficulties.
For those children who find it very hard to be redirected we have introduced small exercise balls during group time to help children strengthen their core in a fun way.

We are often approached by families to support with evidence for referrals to Community Paediatrics as they suspect their child needs some support and they are considering whether an ADHD diagnosis might fit the behaviours that they are seeing. Sometimes, alongside these observations, families suspect a strong genetic component due to parents, siblings and often other family members already having a diagnosis.
While we regularly work alongside health visitors to provide evidence for referrals for other traits/conditions etc, we can't support for referrals for ADHD as a stand alone request as many of the behaviours observed in children in the early years are also observed as part of 'typical' development.
Sometimes, it can be hard to explain why children have to wait until often at least 6 or 7 (though very very occasionally 5) when both themselves and their families are struggling, especially when referrals to the neurodevelopmental service in Norfolk is then taking years to progress to the assessment stage. So, while it doesn't cover all of the traits families might observe, I thought this table was a really useful way of showing how these traits gradually diverge from 'typical' development.
