Good morning everyone,
As you will all be aware, we have had a quite a significant amount of snow and ice develop over the weekend. After reviewing the weather forecast, we would recommend that children arrive at around 9am, as this allows for safer travel for our families and staff for the next couple of days.
If you chose to arrive earlier than this time, please bare with us as staff may be experiencing delays in arriving due to icy road conditions.
As the roads to and from the nursery are particularly bad, we have decided that today (Monday 5th January) nursery will be closing at 4pm, this will support our families and staff with safer driving conditions and visibility getting home.
We will keep you updated with regards to our opening hours over the next few days via Facebook and Blossom/Ovivio.
We thank you for your patience and understanding at this time, as we are aware that the weather may not present the same in your area.

We are delighted to show off some our our garden improvements so far! The children have had a great time building sandcastles in our new sand pit, as well as making sand pies, cakes and more. The shade sails mean that the children will be able to enjoy more of our outdoor space as the weather get's nicer.
Thank you to for kindly installing our sandpit free of charge!

Happy Pancake Day!
Today the children enjoyed making delicious pancakes. They measured and mixed all the ingredients. We talked about why we have pancakes. The children used their fine motor skills to squeeze the lemon and sprinkle the sugar over their pancakes. They went down very nicely! ππ₯π₯£

Little people have big emotions β€οΈπ©·π§‘ππππ©΅π
Here at The Old School Nursery we support the children in learning about those big feelings, finding ways to manage them and using our words to communicate and share how we are feeling. The children in the Snowdrop and Bluebell Room have been super busy making a beautiful rainbow, staff extended this activity by looking at 'The Colour Monster' story with the children and making their very own colour monsters. Children talked about how the different colours represent different feelings and emotions.

β οΈ Baby Sling Safety Warning β οΈ
You may have seen in the news recently the tragic story of seven-week-old Jimmy Alderman, which has highlighted the dangers of improper baby sling use. Jimmy died after slumping into an unsafe position during "hands-free" breastfeeding, restricting his airflow. The coroner found a lack of safety guidance around baby carriers, and called for clearer advice and standards for sling use. Jimmy's parents, George and Ellie Alderman, are now campaigning to make this a reality as well as raising awareness for safer baby wearing.
RoSPA has the following advice to keep your baby safe:
π’ Use slings that hold your baby upright and snug.
π’ Always keep their face visible and their chin off their own chest to keep airways clear.
π’ Follow the T.I.C.K.S. rule:
βοΈ Tight
βοΈ In view
βοΈ Close enough to kiss
βοΈ Keep chin off the chest
βοΈ Supported back
