The Pre-school children in Oak have been using paint to do some rock painting this week. They have been using lots of lovely colours and have designed butterflies, ladybirds, footballs and even a “rainbow butterfly”. They have also been talking about mixing colours and what happens if one colour is put with another.
The rocks will be on display in the coming days outside of the Pre-school room, so please do come and have a look! 😊

Last week the children in Preschool focused their learning on lots of different careers allowing the children to explore different jobs through play. The children were Doctor's and Nurses using the stethoscopes and plasters to take care of people. They were also Mechanics using different tools to fix the car. They were Firefighters, using a spray bottle to put out the pretend fires, and finally they were Bakers (and even baked their very own biscuits!) yummy!😀

The babies in Walnut room have been exploring textures today. They used their hands to feel sensory bags full of buttons, bubbles and oil, as well as sponges and bubble wrap! The babies got stuck in using all their senses to explore the materials and, of course, we had to also play peek-a-boo under the sensory materials which resulted in lots of laughter and giggles! The fun followed us outside as the babies shook sensory bottles and felt the sand between their fingers. What a fun filled day! 😃

It was World environment Day today and the toddlers from Cedar room went out to explore in the gardens around the nursery. We found and named flowers, we watched bees, and we felt some of the long grasses and talked about how they tickled our hands. 😊The children collected some natural resources and used them in a creative activity in the afternoon!

The children in Cedar have been learning about the life cycle of bees because it is ‘World Bee Day’ today. 🐝They created their very own Bumble bees using black and yellow materials and paper cut into different sizes, using glue the children stuck their materials onto a paper plate. They then used their bees to make the sound of a bee! Then the story of "Bumble bear" was read to the children – one of their favourites!😃

The children in Cedar room decided to make seed paper today. They wet tissue paper and spread seeds on it. They added another layer of paper and waited for it to dry. They then stamped brown paper with flower, bee and butterfly stamps. With a little support the children tied up their seeds and took them home to plant. We look forward to seeing how the seeds grow🌱😊

We had a special delivery of eggs from Living Eggs last week. Living Eggs provide an ethical Chick Hatching Programme which gives children an opportunity to care for and watch chicks hatch. The children in Oak did a fantastic job looking after the eggs. They also learnt a great deal, watching them hatch and then caring for them by feeding, topping up their water and having cuddles.🐣

In recognition of St Georges Day yesterday, the children in Birch room looked at pictures of Dragons before using paint and brushes to create their own picture. When they had finished painting, the children added googly eyes to their dragons and practiced naming the colours they used as they painted, such as “brown”, “green” ,“blue and “red”🎨

Its World Earth Day today and the Babies in Walnut painted a large picture of Earth using blue and green paint. They used paintbrushes to make ‘splats’ on the paper, as well as printing with their feet!
In Cedar room, the children talked about World Earth Day and discussed the things we can do for the planet, they decided that we could help the earth by turning off the lights when we leave the room, and using both sides of our drawing paper. The children made handprints on their world pictures, because small hands can change the world. 🌍

We had great fun yesterday with an Easter Egg hunt! The children across the Nursey searched high and low, inside and outside, looking for all the hidden eggs. There was great excitement and lots of shouting “I got an egg, I got an egg!" 😊🐣
