✨ We’ve been busy during our Renovation Week! ✨

We’ve stripped spaces back, filled, painted, tidied, reorganised and refreshed areas across the nursery and gardens, ready to welcome everyone back. 💛

There are lots of changes for the children to discover, including a new mud kitchen and sandpit in the Natural Garden, new dens, refreshed play spaces, new gardening beds and tools, additions to our construction area, and plenty of changes within Honeybees, Butterflies and Ladybirds. 🌿🏡🐝🦋🐞

We’re still waiting for some of our new Honeybees furniture and equipment to arrive, so there’s more to come!

And, rather amusingly, the one area we didn’t manage to finish was our number one priority – the Baby Garden! 😂🌧️

We made a good start, including creating a lovely new cosy den, but the British weather eventually beat us and we were rained off! We’ll be back out there on the next sunny weekend to finish what we started. ☀️

We’re really pleased with how everything is coming together and can’t wait for the children to explore the changes and make the refreshed spaces their own.

🦋🌻 Today was finally time to release our beautiful butterflies! 🌻🦋

The children have been fully engaged in every step of our butterflies’ incredible life cycle journey.

From the day they first arrived as tiny caterpillars, we watched them grow bigger and bigger each day. There was so much excitement when they finally formed their chrysalises! 🐛

We waited patiently, carefully transferring them into their butterfly net and watching closely for the magical moment when they emerged as beautiful butterflies. 🦋✨

Then came one final wait… for the sunshine! ☀️ As butterflies are cold-blooded, they need the warmth of the sun to help them become active and ready to fly.

Today the sun shone brightly, so it was time to say goodbye and release them into the world. 🌻🦋

What a wonderful hands-on learning experience it has been for the children — full of curiosity, patience, excitement and awe at the wonders of nature. 💛

🐛 It was our mini beast week at Summer Club! 🕷️

This week we have been learning all about minibeasts, and the children have absolutely loved becoming little bug explorers! 🔎🐞

The excitement was huge when our five caterpillars arrived from Insect Lore! 🐛 We can’t wait to watch them grow and see what happens next.

Throughout the week, the children have been busy:

🕷️ Rescuing bugs from the sticky spider web
🐞 Counting bugs and matching them to their numbers
🕸️ Playing *Incy Wincy Spider* games
🏡 Building bug houses for our garden
🪲 Applying bug face paint and acting out being bugs
🌿 Talking about natural habitats and where minibeasts like to live

It has been a fantastic week of hands-on learning, exploring, counting, creating and discovering nature. 🌱💚

We can’t wait to see how much our caterpillars have grown over the weekend! 🐛➡️🦋

🎓☀️ A little throwback to the end of last term! ☀️🎓

We spent our final days together getting everything ready for our Graduation Party! The children were busy making bunting, filling their party bags and packing their lunch boxes before leaving nursery for our special celebration. 🎉

The party was hosted by the wonderful Mr.Chilly, who was spectacular as always! Some of our children’s families were able to join us, and we had such a lovely time dancing, playing and enjoying the sunshine together one last time before the summer holidays — and before our school leavers begin their next big adventure! 💛

At the end of the party, we sang our graduation song together before the children proudly received their Graduation certificates and goodies. 🎓✨ It was such a special way to celebrate how far they have all come.

We’re wishing all of our school leavers a wonderful summer and the very best start to Reception in September. 🌈

We will miss each and every one of you, but we know you are ready for this exciting next chapter and are confident you will all do wonderfully in your new classes.

Good luck, graduates — we are so proud of you! 🎓💛✨

🚍 What a fantastic way to launch into Transport Week! 🚍

We were so excited to welcome Daniel, the bus driver, who kindly brought along his big yellow bus for a very special private visit to our nursery!

The children were thrilled to see the bright yellow bus with its enormous wheels. As we climbed aboard, our friendly bus driver handed each child a ticket, making the experience feel just like a real bus journey. We learnt all about the stop buttons, including the special stop button for passengers with disabilities.

Everyone found a seat, fastened their seatbelts, and waited excitedly as the engine began to rumble. We enjoyed moving forwards before coming to a gentle halt, just like a real journey. The children noticed how high up they were from the ground, especially as we walked towards the back of the bus, and many shared their own experiences of travelling by bus.

To finish our wonderful adventure, we gathered together for a group photo and said a big thank you to our lovely bus driver.

A huge thank you to Daniel from Sanders Coaches for making this such a memorable and special experience for all the children at our nursery. It was the perfect way to begin our Transport Week! 💛🚌

Free bus travel for 5-15 year olds.

🚌Millions of children across England will qualify for free bus travel from August 1 under a new Government scheme.

👩‍👧From August 1, all young people aged from 5 to 15 will qualify for free bus travel in England. That covers 7.5million people.

🚍There is no registration, no forms to fill out, and no special app or physical pass required.

Eligible children can just hop on board the bus without paying a fare!

While adults don't qualify, single bus fares in England are currently capped at a maximum of £3.

The scheme is part of the government's Great British Summer Savings initiative, announced by Chancellor Rachel Reeves earlier this year. It will run until August 31.

Not every bus journey in England is covered with some companies choosing not to take part in some areas. Long-distance National Express coaches, tourist buses and private hire vehicles are not included.

This week at our Summer Club, we have been exploring different careers. As part of our learning, we were delighted to welcome Dentaid The Dental Charity, who visited to teach the children all about the importance of good oral hygiene and regularly seeing the dentist.

The children learned that the amount of toothpaste we should use is about the same size as the blue section on a toothbrush – roughly the size of a pea! They also practised brushing in gentle circular motions and discovered why it's important to spit out toothpaste after brushing but **not rinse**, so the fluoride can continue protecting their teeth from sugar bugs.

We also had some fantastic discussions about healthy eating, with the children enthusiastically sharing their own knowledge and experiences. Some of their wonderful comments included:

🦷 *“I brush my teeth twice a day. In the morning and before my shower.”*

🦷 *“I brush my teeth up and down and side to side.”*

🦷 *“Your teeth will fall out if you don’t brush them.”*

🦷 *“Look how clean my teeth are!”*

It was a fantastic opportunity to promote healthy habits, build the children's confidence in caring for their teeth, and encourage them to share these important messages with their friends and families. A huge thank you to Sarah from Dentaid The Dental Charity for such an engaging and informative visit!
