One of the study participants for the iACT4CARERS Trial, Nia, has been interviewed by the NIHR regarding her experience of taking part in the trial and how our new digital therapy supported her in coping with the mental health challenges she experienced while caring for her mother.

The Clinical Effectiveness of Internet-delivered Self-help Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Family Carers of People with Dementia (iACT4CARERS) trial was a multi-site, single-blind, parallel-group, two-arm RCT of iACT4CARERS plus treatment-as-usual compared to treatment-as-usual alone.

The intervention was delivered at 20 secondary care services (mental health or planned/elective care) within the NHS across England, selected to ensure broad geographic representation.

A total of 496 people supporting a family member with dementia took part in the study, where half were given access to digital therapy via a platform alongside their usual care, and the other half received usual care only.
