EVOLVE @ MAP

MAP provides a self-support group named Evolve for young people between the ages of 11 and 26. The group is for anyone who identifies as trans, this means people whose gender is not the same as, or does not sit comfortably with, the s*x they were assigned at birth, this includes (but is not limited to) people who may describe themselves as mtf or male-to-female, ftm or female-to-male, transgender, gender-questioning, inters*x, cross dresser, non-binary, gender-fluid, genderqueer.

Evolve provides a safe space for young people to meet and discuss trans issues. It is a chance to make friends and socialise in a trans friendly environment, where people are respectful and understanding. We sometimes have guests visit to give talks, answer questions and tell us about relevant services or other groups and things of interest, including personal experiences. On occasions we run group activities outside of the meetings and have been involved in film-making projects, poetry workshops, cinema/theatre trips and Norwich Pride.

Important: before attending Evolve, we ask that all new members book in for a one-to-one appointment so they can find out more about the group and decide if it is right for them at this time. We also confirm the venue, dates and times that Evolve takes place at this appointment. If you would like to ask any questions or would like to book a one-to-one appointment please contact us.

As well as Evolve, MAP offers a general ‘drop-in’ service. This is where young people can come into MAP without having to make an appointment for advice on things such as housing, benefits, money/debt, s*xual health/relationships, finding work/training/education, CV writing or any issues they need support with. The Norwich drop-in is open Monday to Friday, 1.30pm to 5.30pm and young people can come in and wait to see a member of the MAP Advice and Information Team.
