We're thinking about the future. Things will be different - if not permanently then certainly for a very long time to come. Working from home/hybrid working more common; less shopping in the city centre; more seeking leisure/learning activities closer to home; more desire to be outdoors. All of these things could happen.
So how should Trade School Norwich respond? Should we be looking at linking up with co-working spaces? Perhaps more classes away from the city centre in branch libraries, coffee bars or community centres? Do you think that classes during the weekday might prove more popular now? What do think we should be planning for?

Plans for re-launching Trade School Norwich are carrying on even though we cannot actually have any classes at the moment. We are in negotiations about taking on an empty retail space in the city centre for a short period of time (a sort of 'pop-up' centre for classes). A couple of coffee shops/bars on Magdalen Street are also keen to host classes once it is safe to do so. So that's all good news.
If you haven't done so already then you really should sign up to our mailing list. That way you get a monthly newsletter (rather less at the moment) in your inbox with all the latest Trade School Norwich news. The link is below:

The new Covid rules means that plans to re-start have been put on hold. We're watching Wensum Lodge and other adult education providers to see what they are planning to do.
One of the things that we would like to do is find a 'meanwhile space' in the centre of Norwich to act as a temporary base for teaching classes. A meanwhile space is an empty retail space that's taken over by a community group (like us) for just a few weeks or months at a reduced/peppercorn rent. In order to do this we'll need some cash through a crowdfund to pay the rent, do any maintainence and pay for insurance and utilities. So watch this space.
Until then you can help us in two ways . You can invite your Norwich-based friends to like our page (just click on the three dots button at the top of this page), then go to 'Invite Friends' and choose your Norwich friends.
You could also encourage people to join our mailing list so that they will get news about Trade School Norwich. The link is:

One of our potential teachers - the Slow Yarn Spinner - will hopefully be offering classes on traditional weaving and spinning once we are up and running. In the meantime she has launched a crowdfund to help finance a series of online courses on spinning and weaving. So there's a possibility that you could learn from her both online and through Trade School Norwich.
It would be really helpful if you could spare a little bit of cash to help her reach her goals. Thanks.

Plans to relaunch Trade School Norwich is still going on. We thought that it would be good to have a listing of people who might be willing to teach a Trade School class. If you've taught a class in the past, or if you've never done it before, and you'd like to teach a class whenever we start again then you can leave your details in the form below. We'll then be in touch when things get going.
Teaching with Trade School Norwich Thanks for showing an interest in teaching a class with Trade School Norwich. In case you're not sure then it means that you offer classes not for cash but for bartered items. Past teachers have asked for home-made cakes; baby clothes; packets of seeds; recipe books or interesting postcards. You don...

Dear all, Trade School Norwich was always about finding ways to let people discover new skills. Norfolk has it's own skills and off-grid festival with the Treehouse Festival - which is happening in July. They've started up a Thunderclap campaign to help spread the word as much as possible. When you sign up to a Thunderclap then a message appears on your social media at exactly the same time as everyone who signs up. You can all help to spread the word by signing up.
