I am an experienced teacher with over 10 years working in a complex need school. When teaching I was an exemplary classroom practitioner, demonstrating nothing less than good to outstanding practice. I believe in having high expectations of all pupils and have effective behaviour and classroom management, using clear boundaries and positive behaviour strategies. I am successful in raising attainment for underachieving pupils. I have experience in leadership skills, multidisciplinary working and outreach work in mainstream schools. I am flexible in my approach and I am skilled at differentiation across the curriculum incorporating different teaching approaches and strategies including PECS, TEACCH, Signalong, a sensory curriculum and sensory diet

I am passionate about children’s learning and aim to use the children’s interests and ideas as much as is possible in their learning. With a caring and gentle approach I am quick to build a rapport with pupils. Behaviour is communication.
