๐ Caterpillars (Baby Room) ๐
Weโre excited to share a lovely creative activity happening in our Caterpillars room! ๐

Humpty Dumptys Kindergarden
Humpty Dumptyโs Kindergarden opened in July 2011. Fields and woodlands surround the Nursery and a long gravel driveway separates it from the road.
Accommodated in the village of Taverham, the Nursery is close to local amenities such as Taverham Garden centre, Taverham Library, the veterinary surgery and local primary schools such as Nightingales, Ghost Hill and Drayton Community Infant School. There is a large car park to enable easy drop off and pick up times for parents and carers. Humpty Dumpty's Kindergarden is registered with OFSTED (Of
Humpty Dumpty Supports Autism Awareness!
On Thursday 2nd April, Humpty Dumpty is helping support Autism Awareness Day and weโd love everyone to join in! Weโre asking if you can bring your child in wearing blue to show support and help spread awareness.
Itโs a simple way to get involved and talk to children about being kind, understanding, and celebrating everyoneโs differences.
Thank you for helping us support such an important cause ๐

What a flipping flippinโ fabulous Pancake Day we had in baby room! ๐ฅโจ
Our Caterpillars celebrated this yummy occasion by diving straight into a wonderfully sensory adventure inspired by everyoneโs favourite treat โ pancakes! ๐๐
Our tray was filled with gloopy, stretchy oobleck that seemed to have a mind of its own. One minute it was runny and drippyโฆ the next it turned solid in their tiny hands! ๐คญ Our little ones were completely mesmerised as they scooped, stirred, squashed and splashed using spoons, whisks and even real lemons. It was busy, buzzy and beautifully messy! ๐ฅฃ
And then came the lemonsโฆ ๐
Oh my goodness! A few brave little ones had a tiny taste and WOW โ the sour surprise brought out the most amazing funny faces! ๐ We saw squinty eyes, puckered lips and lots of laughter as they reacted to the zingy flavour. ๐โก๏ธ
This sensory celebration supported the EYFS framework in so many exciting ways:
๐Communication and Language โ We introduced fun new words like mix, squash, gloopy, sticky and sour.
๐Physical Development โ All that scooping, squeezing and stirring strengthened little fingers and supported handโeye coordination.
๐Personal, Social and Emotional Development โ Exploring new textures and tastes built confidence, curiosity and resilience in a safe, nurturing environment.
๐Understanding the World โ Watching the oobleck change from liquid to solid sparked early scientific thinking as the babies investigated cause and effect through hands-on exploration.
What a wonderfully messy, magical morning full of learning, laughter and lemony surprises! ๐ฅ๐

๐โจ Childrenโs Mental Health Week โจ๐
This week at Humpty Dumptyโs weโve been busy exploring ways to understand our feelings, find calm, and look after our wellbeing ๐
๐ Caterpillars discovered the magic of sensory bags โ squishing, sliding and exploring textures to help regulate big emotions and find a moment of calm.
๐ Ladybirds enjoyed a soothing self-care water tray, complete with gentle play, relaxation time, and even mini face masks! A lovely way to explore self-care and mindfulness through play.
๐ฆ Butterflies took their wellbeing into the woods! On a peaceful nature walk, they collected sticks and natural treasures to create their very own worry dolls โ a beautiful way to talk about feelings and let go of worries.
Through these experiences, the children have been learning how to recognise emotions, develop calming strategies, and understand the importance of looking after their mental health.
These activities link closely to the EYFS framework:
๐ฌ Personal, Social and Emotional Development โ managing feelings and behaviour
๐ฟ Understanding the World โ exploring nature and environments
๐จ Expressive Arts and Design โ creativity to express thoughts and feelings

This week in the Baby Room, our little ones enjoyed a magical celebration of National Story Week through lots of sensory, messy and hands-on experiences inspired by much-loved traditional tales. ๐โจ
Our babies didnโt just listen to storiesโฆ they lived them!
We huffed and puffed our way through The Three Little Pigs as the babies built houses with wooden blocks and different materials for example lollipop sticks and spaghetti. They squealed with delight as they knocked them down again and again! ๐ท
Then came the wonderfully messy fun of Goldilocks and the Three Bears! Bowls, spoons and porridge everywhere as little hands scooped, mixed, patted and squished. The babies loved feeling the different textures while hearing familiar story words and joining in with the experience through their senses. ๐ป๐ฅฃ
All of these amazing experiences supported key areas of the EYFS:
๐ Communication & Language โ listening to story words and engaging with familiar tales
๐ Physical Development โ building, grasping, scooping and exploring textures and objects
๐ Personal, Social & Emotional Development โ exploring confidently alongside others
๐ Literacy โ building an early love of stories and books
๐ Mathematics โ exploring size through big and small bowls, spoons and furniture
๐ Understanding the World โ investigating materials, textures and objects through sensory and small world play
๐ Expressive Arts & Design โ sensory exploration and early imaginative play
What a wonderful week of laughter, learning, storytelling and gloriously messy fun in Caterpillars!๐๐ถ๐ป

โ๏ธโจ Snow Day Magic โ Learning Through Winter Wonder! โจโ๏ธ
This week the caterpillars had the most magical experience โ adventuring out in the snow! With cosy suits, warm hats, and curious smiles, they explored the crisp, sparkling world around them. Little hands reached out to touch the fluffy snow, tiny boots crunched across the ground, and joyful giggles filled the air as snowflakes landed softly on their cheeks. โ๏ธ
This wasnโt just a fun winter experience โ it was a rich learning opportunity, closely linked to the principles of Birth to 5 Matters.
๐ Sensory Exploration & Curiosity
Babies explored new textures, temperatures, and sounds โ developing their early understanding of the world through hands-on discovery.
๐ Physical Development
Moving across snowy ground encouraged balance, coordination, and gross motor skills as babies crawled, toddled, and stepped through new terrain โ strengthening their confidence as active learners.
๐ Communication & Language
We used rich vocabulary such as cold, snowy, crunchy, soft, and sparkly. Practitioners modelled language through conversation, singing winter songs, and responding to babiesโ gestures and sounds.
๐ Personal, Social & Emotional Development
Shared smiles, reassurance, and gentle encouragement supported secure relationships and emotional wellbeing โ helping babies feel safe to explore and try new experiences.
The snow may meltโฆ but the memories โ and learning โ will last much longer. โ๏ธ๐ค

๐โจ โAll aboard!โ โจ๐
Today at Humpty Dumptyโs Kindergarten, we hopped on The Polar Express and took a magical journey straight into the heart of Christmas spirit ๐
With music playing and imaginations running wild, our little passengers climbed aboard Humpty Dumptyโs specially decorated role-play train, with their very own golden ticket! Through snowy landscapes as they enjoyed hot chocolate topped with cream and sprinkles (because โItโs hot! Hot! HOT!โ โ๐). As well as happily munching on a homemade gingerbread biscuit. ๐ช There was laughter, excitement, and just the right amount of festive silliness as we embraced the magic of the season.
Caterpillar fun continued with extended play as they explored a hot chocolate gloop messy tray, squishing, stirring, and discovering new textures, making the whole experience cosy, creative, and full of festive joy ๐จ
As the story reminds us, โThe thing about trainsโฆ it doesnโt matter where theyโre going. What matters is deciding to get on.โ
And today, our children jumped on board with excitement, curiosity, and joy โค๏ธ
Moments like these help create magical memories while supporting learning through playโtrue to the heart of the EYFS and the spirit of Christmas โจ
