I create stories and communicate them to children in a multi-sensory way including elements to stimulate listening, smell, taste, sight and sounds as well as their imagination! Where possible I include scientific experiments in my stories finding entertaining ways to explain scientific concepts to children. I am still buzzing from an incredible week at the Norwich Science Festival 2026.

I had the absolute joy of collaborating with the brilliant Catto (Fossils & Fireworks) to design and lead four immersive, hands-on experiences that turned science into a total playground for hundreds of children!

Together, we brought these worlds to life:
The Science of Rainbows: Entering the session through a tunnel of light we explored light and prisms to create our very own rainbows. 🌈

Light Up the City: An electrical mission to build circuits, launch flying saucers, and restore power to "Spark City." 💡

The Potato Plot: Our "Farm Detectives" muddy mystery, where little soil scientists helped to solve the mystery of why Farmer Patrick's potatoes weren't growing! 🥔

Wondertots: A dedicated play session for under-5s, making science total "child’s play." 🧸

The Best Part? The sets were entirely interactive! From the ceiling to the walls and floor, every inch of the space was a tool for discovery.

It was a true dream come true to help create these incredible environments. Seeing the pure enjoyment and a passion for science on so many young faces is exactly why we do what we do.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, to our fantastic team of explainers and volunteers and to the Norwich Science Festival team for having us!

This has to be one of my favourite gadgets for my stories. A train which you draw the track in pen and it will follow the track where ever you want it to go!

Brilliant for my Nutcracker story, to take Clara and the Nutcracker Prince to the land of sweets!

This week I was at a nursery, performing my "Gingerbread Man" story. Its one of my favourites. Lots of singing involved. The children help add all the ingredients to make the Little Gingerbread Man. Then we pop him in the oven to bake.

I love watching their faces when he pops out of the oven and makes a dash for the door! He then gets introduced to a farmer, horse and cow, children at a school, the 5 speckled frogs and of course, his last stop - the fox!

The children absolutely loved the story. We had so much fun!

Let me know if you would be interested in this story for your pre-schoolers. xx

I love how AI can bring my books alive!

"The DNA Detectives - The Smuggler's Daughter" starts with the discovery of a locket made of gold and decorated with sapphires in a rock pool! Inside the locket is a picture of a beautiful young girl and a lock of hair.

Who is she? Where did the locket come from? This is the beginning of another adventure for Annabelle and Harry, the "DNA Detectives", involving lost treasure, secret tunnels and smuggler's! And of course using science and DNA to solve the mystery!

If you would like to buy a signed copy of my book for Christmas, send me an email [email protected] or text 07776 396963.

The cost is £6.99 & £1.50 for P&P.

A busy week this week! Baking gingerbread men, for my story at a nursery.

Also, preparing props and potions for two Christmas stories this week - "The Story of the Little Christmas Tree" and "The Nutcracker".

We have red cabbage juice, for turning Rudolph's nose from purple to red, a magnetic train and sodium alginate worms for making tinsel!

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Just preparing some kits, ready for my DNA Detectives workshop on Thursday. I will be extracting DNA from bananas with two classes at a Primary school in Ipswich. I can't wait!

A quick tour of my "pulleys" workshop and story session for my Home Ed group in Marlpit.

It was a lovely session, can't wait to repeat it all with my group at Watlington!

Do message me if you are interested in any of my sessions.

This is the bit people often don't see! Last week I was busy building pulleys for my home ed group session. It took a long time!

I felt very honoured to be invited to give a talk about my "DNA Detective" books at the AGM for ASE Scotland.

Everything I do, is always in some way connected to DNA, so I thought it would be fun to extract some DNA from a banana as part of the talk. It is such a "wow" moment to see the DNA. I think they loved it!

I had some wonderful feedback from the members about using my books in the classroom and how much the children loved the book. Also, from members who as parents, had shared my books with their own children and how much they had enjoyed reading them.

It made me feel really emotional hearing such lovely feedback. Of course Aberdeen, is where I spent many happy years, working to get my PhD in Genetics. So, I will always have a real fondness for Scotland, even though I was on a Teams meeting from Norfolk!

Thank you so much for inviting me ASE Scotland. I loved speaking with you all and best wishes to Susie Burr on her retirement. # # #

I had a fantastic session with my home ed group in Watlington yesterday.

We visited the Galapagos Islands and followed in the footsteps of Charles Darwin! Our job was to observe populations of finches on the different islands to learn about mutations, natural selection, adaptation and evolution.

If you are interested in my "Battle of the beaks" session, you can email me, [email protected] or text 07776 396963.

A big thank you to all the families who came along to my "Halloween Special" this morning. It was so much fun!

What better way to celebrate Halloween than making a special potion bottle, our spells included making someone speak like a parrot and turning Mum into a rook!

The children played the part of my apprentices in the story of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice". We had a vomiting pumpkin, colour changing potions, flying birds and a bubbling lava lamp!

We finished the session by finding out the secrets behind the colour changing potions in the story - using red cabbage as an acid /alkali indicator. We had some wonderful scientists in the making at this session.

If you missed this session, I hope to welcome you all along to my Christmas Special.

Just a few spaces left if you would like to come along to my Halloween special tomorrow, 30th October, 10.30am - 11.30am at New Buckenham Village Hall.

We will be making little potion bottles to take away, watching and taking part in an interactive story of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" and learning about acids and alkalis by mixing some of our own potions - just like in the story!

Tickets are £10 and the session is suitable for 4 - 10 years.

If you would like to come along, you can email me ([email protected]) or text 07776 396963

Look forward to seeing you! # # #
