PACT Animal Sanctuary gave us 4 hedgehogs to release into CAN woods. For the last week or so students have been planning for their arrival, including the creation of a Hedgehog Cafe where we can leave out food for them whilst they get settled in in their new home. The SEMH Nurture Class and the Forest School Club were all involved in meeting the hedgehogs and setting them free into the woods.

Last week, we welcomed the Royal Navy to learn about the huge variety of roles available and the work they do to protect our seas — from preventing piracy and delivering humanitarian aid to safeguarding the internet cables running across the Atlantic!
Year 8 Students took part in team building and communication exercises before tackling engineering challenges, designing and building communication towers and rescue trolleys.
An exciting day of collaboration, innovation, and hands-on challenges, giving students a real insight into engineering and careers within the Royal Navy!

Yesterday, two Officers and one Corporal from RAF Marham visited CAN to teach a select group of Year 7 students all about the principles of flight – thrust, lift, drag and weight!
Students then put their knowledge into action by designing and building their own gliders, making adjustments and testing their designs to see whose could fly the furthest. A fantastic day of hands-on STEM learning, teamwork and problem-solving!

Just before half term, we took 10 students to the Motorsport UK Girls on track UK event at Wattisham Airbase. They met talented female engineers in motorsport and the army, and they participated in a range of engineering based activities against other visiting schools. These included problem solving, physical performance and reaction based tasks. City Academy Norwich students demonstrated courage and determination and managed to get Silver in the Pit Stop Challenge!
