In the Brussels room this week
❄️This week we are exploring all the different animals that live in the cold and ice.
🐻‍❄️In the home corner we have got our very own igloo next to our zoo shop and cafe. We have been pretending it’s very cold in there and practicing putting on all the warm dressing up clothes.
🧊 In our big tuff tray we have had ice. We have used spoons and pipettes to sq**rt water on the penguins frozen in the ice to recuse them.
🐧 At the craft table we have been practicing following 5 part step instructions to make are very own pet penguins. We painted the toilet roll black then stuck on all the other pieces.
🧊 At circle time we read the book about all the animals who live on the ice.
🥶 We made a cold ice smoothie for us to taste. We added frozen strawberries 🍓 and banana 🍌 some apple juice to the blender, gave it a whizz. And we then had a taste. It was very yummy but quite chilly.
🐧 we matched the different shaped penguins to the correct
place on the board.
❄️ our experiment was to make ice, we made very chilled water putting a bottle of water in the freezer to make it cold but not ice. Then we poured it over some ice cubes.

At Little Sprouts this week
🫘This week in the beans room we have been taking an adventure through the jungle 🌳
🫘Both sides of the beans room have taken turns with our jungle tea party , placing different food they find on the plates and feeding themselves or the different animals that joined the tea party. There has been a lot of tea making especially in the older side of the beans room and Some of the children have been using the different animals head bands as part of their role play. 🌳☕️🧺
🫘In the messy tray we had a our own green jungle with different leaves and animals , there was different jungle coloured duplo bricks and flowers hiding in the jungle , the older beans children have been using the bricks to build more trees for the jungle and feed the different animals hiding. We have talked about the different sized leaves and the different animals we found making lots of jungle animal noises as we moved the animals through the leaves.🌳🐒🦒🦁
🫘In the under 2s side in the tray we had a green themed jungle sensory tray with different materials , animal shakers , balls and resources to explore. During our circle time we looked the story Jungle and we made the different animals move around the book by using our fingers by moving the sliders , we found the different animals hiding in the book and made lots of animal sounds. 🌳🐼🐯
During circle time in the older side of the beans room , Phoebe has been reading the book ‘dear zoo’ and using animal props to follow the story. The children have been picking the animals they can see in the book from the basket of animals in front of them, talking about animal features and noises the animals make. 🦁🐸🐫
🫘For our craft this week we have been making monkeys. We have used brown paint and had a choice of different tools to decorate our paper plate such as a sponge , long brush , small brush or our fingers . We have then added none , 1 or 2 eyes and ears to our monkeys. The older beans children have been using a cotton bud with black paint to add mouths. 🐒

🌴This week we have been exploring jungles.
🌧️ As our experiment this week we have been talking about the jungle and how much it rains there. We placed some shaving foam on top some water in a jar, then dropped different coloured food colouring on the top. We then watched as it looked like rain was falling from the clouds.
🐼In the home corner we have had a zoo shop and jungle area. We have enjoyed talking and exploring the different animals on the walls and buying different toys from the shop.
🦧In our big tuff tray we have had green playdough. We have been rolling, cutting and making leaf prints with it. Telling our friends “look it’s a monkey”
🐍 In our small tuff tray we have had green water, jungle animals and pipettes. Together we practiced squeezing up and sq**rting out the water at the animals.
🔍 In group time we have been looking at different pictures of jungle animals and seeing if we can find the matching fur or skin.
🐅 At the craft table we had fun rolling marbles around the tray through orange and black paint making stripes on our blank tiger pictures.

This week in the Brussels room at Little Sprouts Nursery we have been looking at all things sea 🌊
🏴‍☠️ we created a pirate ship ⛴️ in our home corner, with treasure coins, treasure chest 🪎 and maps to find the treasure.
🌊 we made a sensory area that we felt like we were under the sea, draping coloured paper like the sea, different pictures creatures from the ocean 🐠
🚿 We have had water 💦 play in the tuff tray, pipettes, brushes ,syringes, sieves and small world sea animals, this has been enjoyed by all the children. Building on our fine motor strength using our fingers to use the pipettes .
🔵 In our small tuff tray we have had under the sea blue gloop, with the small world animals.
🐟 We have counted dots on the fish and matched the correct numeral to these.
🖼️ for our creative experience we made siloete painting, laying a shape of a sea creatures and then painting around it.
🔬 sink or float experiment- we found lots of different objects from around our room. We then took turns to drop them in the jug of water. But before we did we predicted what we thought it would do. We the discussed why they sunk or floated. Being heavier or lighter. The children were all interested in this.

We even had a turn placing the shells to our ears to see if we could hear the sea waves. 🌊🐳🐚
🫘 For our craft this week we have been using celery sticks and paint to add different coloured scales to our fish making them into our own rainbow fish 🐠

🧸This week we have been exploring the world of bears. At circle time we have been reading lot of different stories all about different bear adventures. We also watched a gummy bear grow by placing it in water and patiently checking it everyday to see the size change comparing it to one not in water.
🧺In our home corner we have enjoyed playing in a teddy bears picnic. Together we would set up the blanket by placing our teddies around the edge of it, then choosing what food they would like to eat. We then had are very own teddy bears picnic out in the park for lunch. Pam made some yummy picnic food which we shared with are very own teddies from home. Luckily it didn’t rain ☔️ and we got to wear are Teddy bear ears that we made at the craft table. We also ate the Teddy bear biscuits we made for pudding 🐻‍❄️yummy.
🏞️In our tuff tray we reenacted the story of “we are going on a bear hunt” moving the bears through the different areas to get to the cave, then running back to the house to hide.
🧸In the park we went on a bear hunt finding all the different animal teddies that were Hindi g from us, once we found them from are list we crossed the off so e knew which ones were left to find. Some were very hard to find as they had climb the trees 🌳
⏰ At group time we have been matching the bears to the numbers in the cave and matching big, medium and little to the three bears pictures.

🫘 This week we have been exploring animals and teddies!🧸🐴🐮
🫘 For our messy tray we have been continuing to develop our knowledge of farm animals, we have been talking about the different sounds they make and which names we can say, we have also been singing ‘old McDonald’ as we explore them. We have also had cereal in our messy tray which we have been transferring, transporting and pouring within our messy play area. We have been using the spoons to scoop up the different cereal as well as using our fingers to break up some of the bigger pieces of weetabix, which are our hay bales.🥣🐑🐖
🫘 We have continued the idea of farm animals into our tuff tray, this week having cars and car track running around a farm. We have been pushing the cars around the track and investigating the different animals. Some of us have been lining up the different animals, all in a row across the track, and some have even been placing the animals in the car for a drive.🦆🐓🚗
🫘 For our craft this week we have been creating our own Teddy mask, using the paint dabbbers. Using brown and orange we all had a go at splatting paint at the mask to get it the same colour as a bear. Once we had done that, Ella attached the ears and a stick, so we could hold it up to our faces to look like a teddy bear, whilst practicing our best bear noises. 🧸🐻🎨
🫘 During circle time we have been reading 123 farm animals. We have been listening to the different animals that are on the farm and joining in with counting them up, as the numbers get bigger as we continue to read the book. We have continued to explore our put the plaster on the Teddy activity, having a go at locating some of the teddy’s physical features, exploring how they are different to ours. 🐻🩹👀
🫘On Thursday we had a Teddy bear picnic lunch with a Teddy bear biscuit and fruit for pudding. 🧸
