These are just a few of the reasons we love outdoor learning! Increasingly studies are showing the benefits for children of time outdoors supporting the anecdotal evidence we as educators have seen for years. The benefits of time spent in nature in the early years extend far beyond the short time children are with us for Nursery setting them up with the most successful start in life and firm foundations to build learning and wellbeing upon.

A lovely day at our Forest School base camp 🌿

Today, families came together for a picnic, sharing food, exploring the woodland, enjoying walks and of course, a little hide and seek!

We love creating opportunities for our nursery community to connect, play and enjoy the magic of the outdoors together.

We’re looking forward to welcoming more families into our community from September. We currently have spaces available in our beautiful Walled Garden, we’d love to show you around. 🌱

We are so proud of our lovely Naomi who has passed her Level 3 Early Years Educator assessment, completing her apprenticeship to become a fully qualified member of staff!

Naomi is such a valued member of our team; kind, patient and calm. She is planning to extend her studies to complete a level 4 and deepen her Montessori knowledge. Please join us in congratulating her on her brilliant achievement!

Apprenticeships are an excellent way to learn whilst working, developing practical skills as well as expertise in child development the theory and science behind all that we do. If you know a young person who would be a good fit for our unique setting we would love to hear from them and are happy to share information about how early years careers can grow at TCG 🌿

Our friends in the Forest were playing a monkey game yesterday. We spoke about different types of monkeys and had great fun navigating in and around the trees.

Montessori in the woods 🌿

When children come into contact with nature, they reveal their strength’ - Montessori (Discovery of the Child)

While Montessori work is generally thought of as ‘classroom work’, Montessori saw the outdoors as an extension of the classroom and believed that children learn so much outside!

Inspired by Froebelian practice, our children have been noticing patterns in nature before exploring threading to create their very own caterpillars 🐛🌿

These simple, purposeful experiences support fine motor development, concentration, mathematical thinking and creativity, while encouraging children to look closely at the natural world around them.

With Froebel-trained educators, everyday moments become rich learning opportunities, thoughtfully guided to nurture curiosity, independence and a lifelong love of learning. Like and share with someone who would appreciate a Froebelian approach!

We are serious about sustainability. 🌿

Recently we have been sharing stories about water and the water cycle. Our water butts are empty for watering our plants so we have been intentional about how we are using water in our play which has been so appreciated during this warmer weather! Children explored ways to channel and reuse the water they were exploring and having fun with.
