As another academic year draws to a close, we're taking a moment to reflect on the real-world impact achieved by Bedrock's partner schools in 2025-26.

Around the world, 9,403,578 lessons were completed on the Bedrock platform, exposing students to more than 1.5 billion words.

That's hundreds of thousands of young people accelerating their reading and writing abilities. Engaging more confidently with complex texts, subject knowledge and learning across the curriculum.

Language is the foundation of literacy.

This was one of the key messages to emerge from our recent MAT Inclusion Roundtable, where trust leaders from across the country came together to explore the language gap behind the achievement gap.

Alongside guest speaker Professor Tim Mills MBE, leaders discussed how vocabulary, oral language, comprehension and disciplinary literacy underpin pupils’ ability to access the curriculum and succeed.

The conversation highlighted that if schools want to improve literacy, curriculum access and inclusion, language cannot be left to chance - it must be taught with the same intentionality as reading and writing.

We had a brilliant afternoon at the BESA Awards 2026 last week.

We were proud to be shortlisted in the category 'Secondary - Outstanding Curriculum and Assessment Resource', recognising the work and dedication of the schools we partner with every day - using evidence-informed literacy approaches to help students build the reading, writing and communication skills they need to succeed.

Across secondary education, language is the foundation for understanding - enabling students to engage more confidently with complex texts, subject knowledge and learning across the curriculum. Alongside developing students’ academic language, Bedrock’s assessment tools equip schools with the forensic, actionable insights they need to make informed decisions about how to support progress for each and every student.

Thank you to everyone who continues to champion the importance of literacy in every classroom. And, of course, a huge congratulations to all of the winners and finalists.
