Off the Job Hours That Actually Add Value
Build capability and strengthen your reputation
If you’re investing in apprenticeships you want to see real results. Off the job hours play a big role in that.
They give people the time to develop properly, not just learn on the go, they help individuals become more capable and confident enabling higher contributions in their role. Additionally, they help improve how work gets done across the business. When development is taken seriously, it has a wider impact. It directly reflects a business that invests in its people and builds skills in the right way which strengthens your reputation. It builds trust and it helps attract and retain the right people.
A huge win for your teams, your business, and your future growth.

You already have business data, but are you using it properly?
Most businesses have reports, systems and dashboards. But turning that into something useful? That’s where things can fail and when decisions can fall back on instinct. Processes stay the same, and opportunities to improve aren’t always easy to see.
That’s where a Business Analyst can make a real difference in a practical, day-to-day way:
✔ Understanding what’s really happening across the business
✔ Asking the right questions
✔ Spotting where things could work better
✔ Working with teams to improve how things are done
The interesting part? You don’t always need to hire someone new.
In many businesses the potential is already there. People in ops, admin, finance or project roles who know how things work and just need the right development to step into something more impactful. This is where apprenticeships can add a lot of value, without breaking the training budget.
So it’s less about adding another role, and more about improving how your business runs.
If you'd like to find out more about development options for your team we’d love to talk.

Funding for Leadership and Management Apprenticeships is changing - Where do we go from here?
This week’s announcements signal a clear shift in apprenticeships:
👉 Less funding focused purely on people management pathways
👉 More emphasis on practical, role-based capability
But this doesn’t mean apprenticeships are losing their value.
In fact, it’s an opportunity to rethink how you develop your workforce.
FENews have recently reported, "Ministers are concerned about spiralling numbers of expensive higher-level apprenticeships being taken up by older workers, while starts at lower levels and among young people have crashed. Apprenticeships in leadership and management quickly emerged as likely targets."
Leadership hasn’t disappeared — it’s just being built differently:
✔ Through delivery
✔ Through problem-solving
✔ Through real, on-the-job impact
So what are the alternatives worth considering?
If the role is about 👇
📌 Keeping things organised and supporting teams
→ Business Administrator Level 3
A strong foundation for coordination, communication, and early leadership
📌 Fixing problems and improving performance
→ Improvement Technician Level 3
Ideal for operational environments focused on efficiency and results
📌 Leading through customer experience
→ Customer Service Specialist Level 3
Great for developing senior team members who guide others
📌 Supporting learning (Education only)
→ Teaching Assistant Level 3
What if the focus is change and improvement?
📊 Analysing and redesigning work
→ Business Analyst Level 4
🚀 Delivering projects and change
→ Associate Project Manager Level 4
For many employers, this is a practical alternative to Level 5 management standards
When does Associate Project Manager work best?
✔ When roles focus on delivery, projects, or transformation
✔ When coordination across teams is key
✔ When outcomes matter more than hierarchy
🚫 Less suitable for heavily HR-focused roles or large-scale people management
A key shift to understand:
We’re moving from:➡️ “Managing people”
To: ➡️ “Delivering outcomes, improving performance, and leading change”
The bottom line?
There may be fewer funded options focused purely on leadership and people management…
…but there are still powerful ways to build those skills.
At Swarm Training, we help employers combine:
✔ Apprenticeships
✔ Short leadership programmes
✔ On-the-job development
So your teams don’t just learn — they perform and grow.

Helping Your Workforce Adapt to Change
In today’s fast-moving business environment, change is constant. New technologies, systems, processes and ways of working can transform how organisations operate — but they also require employees to develop new skills and knowledge to keep pace.
Without the right support, change can lead to uncertainty, reduced morale and a drop in performance. Structured training and development ensures your team feels equipped, confident and ready to adapt.
Quality employee development training helps organisations to:
✔ Manage change more smoothly
✔ Reduce resistance and uncertainty
✔ Maintain productivity and consistency
✔ Ensure compliance and confidence
At Swarm Training, we support organisations that are already investing in employee training and development, as well as businesses beginning to navigate the challenges of new technologies, evolving systems and changing workplace practices.
Through structured training and apprenticeship programmes, we help employers strengthen skills across their workforce, ensuring teams have the knowledge and confidence to adapt and succeed.
If your organisation is reviewing how it supports learning and development during periods of change, we’d love to start a conversation.

More than half of apprenticeship starters in England are women.
On International Women’s Day, this is a powerful reminder that apprenticeships play an important role in helping women build careers, develop professional skills and progress in the workplace.
Business, Administration and Law is the largest apprenticeship subject area in England, accounting for almost a third of all apprenticeship starts. Programmes in this area are helping thousands of women gain practical experience and achieve recognised standards.
Working alongside employers, we support women developing practical skills through apprenticeships that help businesses grow - from finance and HR to operations, project management, customer engagement and leadership.
Apprenticeships offer a powerful training route whether starting out, returning to work, changing direction or stepping into leadership roles.
We are proud to tutor many women through apprenticeships and proud of the valuable contribution they are making to businesses across the UK.
This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the ambition and achievements of all the women in our apprenticeship community.

It's been fantastic to be part of the Future Careers Expo at the Norfolk Showground, sharing a stand with our partners Delta Four Skate Park and Delta Four Next Gen.
Over the two days we've had the opportunity to speak with students from many local schools who are starting to think about their next steps, and help them understand more about what apprenticeships can offer.
Events like this highlight just how valuable it is to bring education, communities and employers together to create clearer pathways into employment and long-term career development.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand, and to Norfolk Chambers of Commerce and our partners who helped make the event such a success. It’s always encouraging to see so many people engaged in shaping the future of skills and employment.
If you would like to learn more about how apprenticeships can support workforce development within your organisation, or are a school who would like support with providing information about apprenticeships to your students, we’d love to hear from you - https://zurl.co/tRbcV

Strengthen Your Workforce Through Smarter Training
Are you currently delivering employee development programmes, or considering how to use them in your organisation?
In our latest blog, we explore how training for employee development should:
• Align with business objectives
• Address real skills gaps
• Support progression at multiple levels
• Deliver measurable impact
• Reinforce long-term workforce planning
There is more than one way to supply and support learning and development in the workplace, and apprenticeships can play a central role when delivered strategically.
Apprenticeships are more than just a recruitment pathway. When structured effectively, they become a powerful tool for embedding learning and development into your business strategy.
At Swarm Training, we work with employers in two key ways:
✔️ Supporting organisations already offering apprenticeships who want a high-quality, responsive training partner
✔️ Guiding businesses new to apprenticeships through funding, implementation, delivery and long-term workforce integration
