Congratulations to RCM alumni Michal Oren and Sharon Zhou, who have been named as two of Classic FM’s Rising Stars 2026! 🌟

Michal gained her master’s degree in orchestral conducting from the Royal College of Music, supported by a full scholarship as a Victor and Lilian Hochhauser Scholar. During her Bachelor of Music at the RCM, Sharon was Highly Commended in the annual Violin Competition and the Contemporary Competition. Congratulations to both!

There’s a moment every December where I catch myself doing the same thing -
standing in a shop, holding something I don’t really believe in.
Socks. Candles. A gift for the sake of it.
And I wonder…
When did we start giving things instead of giving meaning?
