Living a good digital life doesn’t only mean avoiding the bad stuff like online trolls, scam adverts or gory video games. Sometimes it’s about celebrating the good things: how the internet has the power, for example, to help people improve each other’s day with a kind word, a supportive comment or a well-timed meme.

Online grooming is a growing and deeply concerning threat, with thousands of offences recorded each year in the UK. This edition explores how offenders build trust with children through fake identities, flattery, gifts and group chats before exploiting that relationship. It also examines the rise of sextortion and how gaming platforms and social media can become gateways for harm.

Beyond sexual exploitation, the guide highlights criminal grooming and radicalisation, helping adults recognise that manipulation can take many forms. With practical advice on spotting warning signs, creating open conversations and understanding the platforms children use, this resource empowers parents and educators to intervene early and keep young people safer online.

Today, all of our children had the fantastic opportunity to take part in a Samba Drumming Workshop! πŸ₯πŸŽΆ

The day began with a whole-school assembly, where everyone was introduced to the exciting world of samba music. Throughout the day, each class then had the chance to have a go themselves, learning rhythms and experiencing the joy of making music together.

A huge thank you to Mrs Birrell for organising this wonderful experience, and to our amazing Friends of Hempnall for funding the workshop and making this opportunity possible for all of our children.

What a fun, energetic and memorable day for everyone involved! 🎡✨
