*EDIT*
All children created a cartoon poster with captions, following the trip. The ones attached are from Lime Class-Yr 2. I think they did an amazing day of documenting the trip. ☺️

CIRCUS🎪
The children had an amazing day at The Hippodrome Circus in Gt Yarmouth. They saw fantastic acts like: acrobats, magic with bubbles, syncronised swimmers, daring motorbike riders, hoola hoop tricks, shadow puppetry, juggling, lazer show with a robot and funny man Johnny Mac.

Quotes from the children about the day:

"It was funny when Johnny Mac threw popcorn over a teacher!"
"I loved it when Johnny Mac did sound effects for a story."
"I was amazed when the floor turned into a swimming pool!"
"The hand shadows were really clever."

What a lovely treat for them all in the last week of term!

SPORTS WEEK
The children had an amazing week experiencing lots of different sports. They tried events such as; the bouldering wall, circus skills, glow in the dark dodgeball, speed stacking, kwik cricket and tri-golf. They also practised events for sports day which was the final event of the whole week followed by a lovely family picnic.

We would like to thank FOGG (Friends of Garrick Green) for funding the bouldering wall.

As part of Lime Class project called 'Animal Survival' the children have been learning about microhabitats. They went into the school garden and studied different microhabitats, they were; wild flower beds, rocks, logs, bug hotel and pond. They created a tally chart for which bugs lived in the habitats and then made a class graph with the results.

Sage and Teal classes learned about the amazing life of Helen Keller. They found out that she was deaf and blind and still learned to read and write and go to college.

The children tried to use their other senses to experience a little of Helen’s life. They used their sense of smell to try and identify what was in different pots and used their sense of touch to see if they could describe and identify objects in a bag.

Every class had a visit from Sarah who works at a dental practice. She talked to the children about oral hygiene. Here is some of the information the children found out:

🦷 The children in reception and year 1 will have roughly 20 teeth and 24 in year 2
🦷When all the baby teeth fall out and grow back, they will then grow 4 more teeth and end up having 28 and some adults have 32 teeth!
✅ Brush teeth twice a day - once in the morning, once at night
✅ Use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste
✅ Brush in a circular motion (if you have a normal toothbrush) An electric toothbrush does the circles for you!
✅ Brush your tongue
❌Don't rinse your mouth out or use mouth wash after brushing
✅ Do spit out the toothpaste and WAIT 20 minutes before drinking
✅ Drink fizzy/sugary drinks with a straw - this way the drink doesn't touch the teeth

How much information did your child remember? Ask them, see what they know!
