🌿 What happens to all the hazel we coppice? 🌿

Our handcrafted sawhorses are used to cut freshly coppiced hazel to the perfect size before our volunteers weave it into traditional hazel hurdles. These hurdles help define the woodland paths, making them easier for visitors to explore while blending naturally into the environment.

The remaining branches don't go to waste either! We use them to create dead hedges throughout the woodland. These natural barriers provide valuable habitats for wildlife, protect newly coppiced stools from disturbance, and help ensure the hazel can regenerate, ready to be coppiced and used again in the future.

Whether you're experiencing low mood, anxiety, social isolation, or simply looking for a supportive environment to build confidence and resilience, our supportive team is here to help you feel welcome.

Our nature-based therapeutic programme takes place in our beautiful woodland at Norton Bigwood, where participants can enjoy a range of meaningful activities including:

🌳 Woodland management
🪵 Traditional green woodworking and crafts
🎨 Woodland art
🌱 Conservation projects

Sessions run Tuesday to Friday, 10am – 3pm.

We offer up to two FREE taster days, so you can come and see if it's right for you before deciding.

Free minibus transport is available if getting here is difficult.

You can refer yourself, or a healthcare professional, support worker, friend or family member can help you get in touch.
