Our students had a fantastic morning at the National Horseracing College, gaining an insight into many aspects of the horseracing industry.
They learned about horse care and welfare, explored the wide range of careers within racing, and had the exciting opportunity to watch the horses exercising on the gallops 🐎

Today, our Animal Care students have been learning all about tarantula anatomy. Ranger Zyta brought in two curly hair tarantulas, a salmon pink bird eating tarantula and a Mexican red-knee tarantula. Here are some of our brave learners holding one of the curly hair tarantulas 🕷️

🌳HORTICULTURE ON THE STUDY PROGRAMME🌱
Our Horticulture course focuses on land management, from maintaining our own woodland through to participating in local conservation projects. You will gain knowledge in areas including, though not exclusive to, identification and establishment of plants, constructing fences and building natural habitats. You will also have the opportunity to develop skills in the use of industry-specific equipment, including strimmers and lawn mowers.

🪵HERITAGE WOODCRAFT ON THE STUDY PROGRAMME🪓
One of the oldest professions in human history – help play a part in preserving it. We will teach you how to make a range of interesting products from bowls and spoons to stools and other ornamental items. You will develop technical skills using traditional equipment and tools such as pole lathes, carving knives and gouges.

Our students have recently been out checking and maintaining routes for the upcoming walking festival! 🌿

Do not swim in Millenium Green’s lake. This isn’t a recent photo but it’s a good indicator of what might be in there. The lake is not maintained in any way for swimming and we cannot be sure there’s not sharp hazards below the surface.
Leave the lake to nature.
If you see anyone endangering our lovely community asset with a BBQ, or littering etc please let us know. We’ll be patrolling this weekend to speak up for nature so give us a wave if you value our lovely little green space as much as we do.
