Welcome Back Kingsmead.

The summer holidays have flown by and tomorrow we are delighted to welcome our children back to school for a brand new school year.

We hope you’ve all had a wonderful summer filled with fun, family time and lots of happy memories. We can’t wait to see the children back through the gates, ready for a year full of learning, friendship, creativity, challenge and adventure.

A special welcome to all of our new children and families joining the Kingsmead family this year — we are so pleased to have you with us.

And, of course, a huge welcome back to our wonderful staff, who have been busy preparing classrooms, planning learning and getting everything ready for the year ahead.

A reminder about our school gates

From tomorrow, the side pedestrian gate will be permanently closed. This is part of our ongoing work to improve security around our school site.

All children and families will therefore need to enter and leave school through the main gate at the front of the school. Please allow a little extra time during the first few days as everyone gets used to the new arrangements. Thank you for your understanding and support in helping us to keep our school community safe.

Here’s to a fantastic 2026–27.

Be Kind. Be Useful. Be Ready to Learn.

We had singing, dancing, live music, comedy, gymnastics and so much more. A huge congratulations to all of our finalists, plus a great big thank you to our judges and organisers, Pebble and Olivia. They made all of this possible with their brilliant organisational skills.

Our Upper Key Stage 2 children were incredibly proud to welcome their families to their Learning Without Limits Space Exhibition today.

After a term of hard work, curiosity and creativity, the children showcased everything they had learned about space through a range of interactive displays, models and presentations. It was wonderful to see them speaking so confidently and enthusiastically about their learning, answering questions and sharing their knowledge with visitors.

The exhibition was a fantastic example of what happens when children are given the opportunity to become experts in their learning. Not only did they demonstrate an impressive understanding of their topic, but they also developed the confidence to communicate their ideas clearly to a real audience.

A huge well done to all of our Year 5 and 6 children for their dedication and enthusiasm. We hope all of the families who visited enjoyed the experience as much as we did.

Our Year 3 children put on a fabulous performance this week, showcasing everything they have learned this year. They sang beautifully, played their recorders brilliantly and performed with confidence, enthusiasm and huge smiles.

Learning to play an instrument as part of a group is such a valuable experience. Not only are the children developing their musical skills and learning to read music, but they are also learning to listen, work together, persevere and bring joy to others through their performances.

A huge well done to all of our Year 3 musicians – you should be incredibly proud of yourselves. Thank you to our families for your wonderful support and to our music team for inspiring the next generation of musicians.

With the high temperatures set to continue next week, children can still come to school in their PE kit if they want to. Please ensure children also bring a water bottle, sun hat and sun cream. ☀️

What an incredible afternoon at our Colour Run!

The children had an absolutely amazing time running, laughing, getting soaked and finishing the event covered from head to toe in colourful paint! It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces enjoying themselves together.

A huge thank you to our fantastic KFA (Kingsmead Friends Association) for organising another brilliant event. So much hard work goes on behind the scenes to make days like this happen, and every penny raised helps provide exciting opportunities and resources for our children.

Our KFA is made up of a small group of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year to support the school. We'd love to welcome some new faces! Whether you can spare an hour at an event, help behind the scenes, or get involved more regularly, every little bit of help is truly appreciated.

If you've ever thought about volunteering, we'd love to hear from you. Together, we can continue to make wonderful memories for our children.

Thank you again to everyone who took part, volunteered and sponsored the event – what a colourful way to celebrate the end of the school year!

Our KS1 children were fantastic ambassadors for Kingsmead as they welcomed parents and families on a special school tour to share their learning.

Visitors discovered the history of our school, explored our eco-friendly features including the solar panels, rainwater harvesting system and automated windows, learned about plants and the weather, and admired the beautiful William Morris-inspired press prints created by the children.

We were incredibly proud of the confidence, enthusiasm and knowledge the children showed as they presented their learning. It was lovely to hear so many families say they had learned something new about our amazing school!
