Jade and Lucy have been extremely busy enhancing their enabling environments in our Toddler room!

An enabling environment is important in early years as it's a place where young children can develop, grow and flourish. Offers children security, comfort, choice, engagement and opportunity. It plays a fundamental role in stretching and challenging children's learning and development in EYFS :-)

So, the time is nearly here to say Goodbye to our amazing school leavers :-)

We are honoured to have been part of your learning journey and supporting you on your world readiness. You are ready to go and shine like the stars you are at Big school.

We've witnessed you grow from babies to Reception age, we've watched your confidence, resilience, determination and friendships flourish over the past few years.

We wish you all the best of look and please send in pics of your child's first day in their uniforms :-)

The majority of us shed a tear at our lovely graduation the other week. Good luck everyone, we are so proud of you all :-)

What a great job Jade and Lucy have done in the Toddler room transforming their sensory den into a Jungle themed fun den using the children's interest to spark their curiosity and imagination :-)

The Reception children became very curious when they spotted the planting that Early Learners had done. So, the Reception room gathered the resources needed and completed their own planting activity.

Some of the children said
'I do planting with my Mummy at home'

'This one is so colourful'

'You need water, soil and the sun to grow plants'

What a lovely activity to find out what the children know and enhance their knowledge of the world around them :-)

A BIG well done to Lara, she has been with us a few weeks and has created lovely bonds with children and staff :-)
She has been given a little Fri-YAY treat to say well done for settling in so well :-)

Our Early Learner room thoroughly enjoyed their planting activity yesterday :-)
They spoke about the colours they could see, what the soil smelt like and how it felt.
They had great fun learning all about planting, the Practitioners spoke about what plants need to grow :-)
Lot's of learning opportunities during this activity, new language, communication, new experiences, learning about the world around them, fine motor skills and working together with their friends :-)

Whilst we had some lovely weather the children spent lots of time outside and were encouraged to build upon their core strength and co - ordination as well as their gross motor skills. The younger children have practicing how to climb on an off the see saw safely and to climb up the steps on the slide. The older children have been rolling tyres and making their own obstacle courses to develop their balancing skills and agility.

The children have also had the opportunity to engage with arts, enabling them to explore and play with a wide range of media and materials like textured books, spaghetti play, shaving foam and much more.

Repetition is key for anyone to learn a new skill and embed it before enhancing it, and these amazing babies were repeating some actions from this week such as peek a boo with materials, using colanders as a hat and shaking the instruments to make sounds which led onto them creating their own instrument this afternoon as sensory play had also been an interest this week so we incorporated both :-)
We are so lucky to be able to watch, support and encourage the little ones here at nursery and the pride we feel when we see them develop a new skills and knowing, alongside their parents we are part of that is exactly why we do it :-)

As part of my role as nursery manager, I support and encourage my staff and what's better than being a role model for them within the rooms :-)
This morning I was with Cara in our baby room :-) We had new children who joined us so we focused on building a secure and positive relationship with them :-)
We understand the importance of safe and secure relationships in order for a child to have the confidence to go and explore their new environment.
We had great fun with all the babies playing peek a boo with the colourful materials, some children even copied and began pulling the material up to cover their face then gave us big smiles :-)
A lot of baby giggles could be heard and it was lovely :-)

What a lovely morning I have had in our Reception room.
The girls had set out an activity to challenge the children with the tweezers.

Firstly, they practised using the tweezers to pick up pom poms, I then made it more challenging by making the holes smaller and adding some shape cutters.
They took turns to pick a specific colour pom pom or shape that their friends said :-)

This activity positively encouraged the children's listening and understanding skills, following instructions and turn taking.
It developed their fine motor skills to support their skills of using tools competently and with confidence.

The children were a great support and encouragement to each other, some of their supportive language was-

'You have to keep on trying and you will get it soon'
'Try and move it over here where the space is bigger'
'It's a bit tricky but you can do it'
'well done, you are so so good'

Today was our first year joining in the Weaverham Rose Fete, the rain didn’t dampen our spirit 😀
It was lovely to see children we have cared for and joining in the local community.
We are already planning next years to be bigger and better 😀

On Wednesday it was sensory day here at nursery :-)

Sensory play offers a child the opportunity to explore their senses such as touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing. It is essential for child development as it improves sensory awareness, fine motor skills, language development, cognitive growth, and problem-solving abilities in an enjoyable and engaging manner.

Our Reception children made a special Science activity and they only needed 3 ingredients-
*milk
*washing up liquid
*Food colouring

Mix the milk with washing up liquid and carefully pop drops of food colouring in and watch the magic happen.
As the children said during this activity,

'It looks like a volcano'
'The colour turned around'
'It's like magic'
'Look at the beautiful red'

How lovely to listen to how each child interprets the activity and what they can see :-)

On Friday we made our own junk modelling creations using recyclable materials, we made a robot, pencil holder and a spaceship :-)
The Reception children spoke about recycling and discussed the different colour bins they have at home.

'where only cardboard can go in it' and 'I have a bin for tins and one for food'

This activity supported the children's fine motor skills by using the scissors for control and precision :-) It also gave the children an understanding of the world around them as the practitioners explained the importance of recycling for the planet :-)

Our Toddler children had great fun exploring the dinosaurs that had been frozen in water. They used different tools to chip, bang and manipulate their way through the ice, which then gave them the opportunity to watch the ice melt and create water play which was great during the hot weather :-)

Over the past few days our Reception children have been exploring the water whilst it has been nice and sunny.

Firstly, we spoke about keeping our bodies safe in the sun and the importance of sun cream and hats.

One little boy said 'we must drink water to keep hydrated' this is a daily conversation within Reception to encourage healthy habits!

When in the garden the children enjoyed making footprint in the water and looking at who's was biggest and how far they could leave foot marks from the water, encouraging prediction and thinking :-)

I think the pictures speak for themselves how much fun the children had :-)

As we welcome this lovely summer sun we would like to politely remind parents to provide sun hats and cream for their children

To celebrate healthy eating week each room was given a task to design and make a healthy snack for another room. As you can see all the rooms got creative and came out with some amazing designs. Babies make a pooh bear, Toddlers made elephants, Early Learners made a hedgehog and Reception made racing cars.
The children were amazed at the fabulous designs and enjoyed tucking in the fruit :)

The reception children have had a special delivery today. They were all very excited to see the caterpillars. The children will be observing the caterpillars over the next couple of weeks and learning how they grow and make a cocoon and turn into beautiful butterflies. Watch this space for our updates !!!

Each room set up an activity and discussed what the planned learning was using the children’s interest. We spoke about if and how the activity could be enhanced further!

Our room of the month went to Babies for their outstanding dedication to their role and settling in all our new babies over recent weeks 😀

Our staff member of the month went to Catherine, she’s had some lovely feedback from other staff and also Matt, our maintenance man for making our nursery look amazing 😀

Our Reception children have had great fun completing their science experiment outside this week :-)
They were attempting to make giant bubbles to fit over their friends.
They discussed how to make the bubbles and predicted if they thought it would work or not, they all had great fun :-)

We care for babies from 6 weeks, babies stay in our amazing, well equipped baby room until they are roughly 12-14months.
We work in partnership with parents every step of the way and discuss the process of transitioning into the next room, as a mother of 3 children myself, I fully understand it's also a big step for parents/carers too when a child starts/moves room and want to ensure this is a smooth process for both baby and parents :-)

Over recent weeks we have had new babies start with us and the dedication, passion and enthusiasm from my staff has meant this has been a lovely transition for both parents and baby. My staff have built the foundation of a trusting relationship with the babies which enables them to feel safe and secure when being dropped off and eagerly go off and explore their new environment :-)
