Musicians from year 7 8 and 9 were recently invited to participate in a workshop alongside some of our friends at Hebden Green school, learning about all things samba. They were taught by and played alongside real musicians from a professional samba band and had a wonderful, if a little noisy, time!

Year 7 Edge Hill University Careers day visit

The whole of Year 7 travelled to Edge Hill University for an inspiring day out.

We were split into groups for a tour of the campus including the accommodation, sports hall, library and different schools of education.

Followed by an interactive lesson on what courses and careers can be accessed through going to university and what clubs and societies there are at different universities.

Some excellent questions were asked by students who were thinking about their future career.

Well done to Isla, Issy, Jess and Laurie in Year 7 who have been involved in a promoting Water Safety Champion training for schools at Wildshore and have been on Granada reports promoting a new water safety initiative for secondary schools.

They were great ambassadors and engaged really well with the session and key messages.

Year 10 completed their Geography fieldwork last week, it was hot but the students worked really well surveying coastal management techniques and measuring longshore drift on the beach. For the human investigation, students conducted environmental quality surveys, litter counts and pedestrian counts in New Brighton town.
