Year 5 had an amazing time at Anderton Boat Lift yesterday. We learned all about rivers and their features, went on a river walk and found out about how the boat lift works through hydraulics. We also enjoyed sketching the landscape in the beautiful sunshine 🌞

In RE, Year 4 explored scripture creatively by recreating the journey made by Saul (St Paul) on the road to Damascus. We thought carefully about how he might have felt at different points on the journey and how those feelings and beliefs would have changed. Finally, we thought about what these events can teach us about God and the lessons we can learn for ourselves today.

Today is Pentecost Sunday, often called the birthday of the church. Pentecost is when the disciples of Jesus received the gift of the Holy Spirit. We will be celebrating Pentecost with a Mass in school at 9:15am on Wednesday 22nd May. We would love our families and friends to join us.

Year 1 completed their science project of house building today. They have been choosing suitable materials for the walls, windows and roof. They showed fantastic scientific understanding, use of vocabulary and team work. Well done Year 1! Here is a picture of them doing their best ‘big bad wolf’ impressions! They blew us away…

Year 3 have been learning about how the Eygptians believed in mummification and after sequencing the steps involved, they then had fun muffifying a tomato!! We will see if we have managed to preserve the tomato after a period of time.

We are extremely proud of our wonderful Year 6 classes for how they have taken SAT week in their stride. Thank you to all of the Year 6 staff team for preparing the children so very well.
Lots of happy smiling faces as they finished their last paper this morning. Hoodies on, party lunch on the way and much fun to be had.

A real highlight for the year 1‘s Eastertide learning has been creating our Easter gardens! They blew us away with their understanding of the symbols of the Easter Story and loved sharing their finished work with a number of the teachers. It felt like the RHS Chelsea Flower Show!

Throughout the month of May, all our children are drawing closer to Mary and to Jesus by carrying on the Catholic tradition of praying the rosary each day. This year we are praying the ‘Mission Rosary’, strengthening the bonds between God’s global Church family.

Since its introduction the Mission Rosary has been used by Catholics around the world, helping children on every continent, to pray for one another in a beautiful exchange of faith and friendship. Its unique coloured beads give us the chance to pray for people across every continent.

Today Year 2 and Year 4 joined together to pray for the people of Asia. It was a beautiful end to our day and a lovely opportunity to join our classes together as one.

We learned about the scientist Isambard Kingdom Brunel today in Science Club. Then we created our own boats and tested to see how well they floated by how many marbles they could hold. There were some fantastic and well designed creations!

Today while the sun was shining during outdoor learning we listened to the Gruffalo story and built houses for the mouse, the fox, the owl and the snake. We observed the changes from when we visited in February, in winter to today, in spring. We also spotted our friendly campus ducks taking a walk around our play area.

Reception had a great day in the forest today 😃 We found the Gruffalo! We explored where each of the different animals lived and their habitats. We role played the Gruffalo story and our book this week Goldilocks and the 3 bears 🐻. The children were amazing and the train ride was a real highlight.

We found the Gruffalo! Year 2 had a wonderful trip to Delamere today in the sunshine. We explored the woodland and thought of words to describe what we could see and hear to help us with our writing this week. We created art with nature inspired by 'Andy Goldsworthy' the artist we are studying in class and we absolutely loved travelling by train 🚆

A great day was had in Delamere Forest today exploring the Gruffalo trail! Lots of tired legs on the way home. Here’s a sneaky peak at year 1’s gruffalo poses.

Thank you to the KS2 children taking part in our Sacramental preparation programme ahead of the First Holy Communion Mass in June. Today we spent time exploring different types of prayer and discovered we can speak and listen to God through prayer. We also spent time looking at the words our Saviour gave us… the Our Father, matching up the traditional words with its modern meaning. We took time to look at the structure of the Mass and how it fits together. Our next session will take place on Tuesday 7th May immediately after school. # # #

Year 2 were very keen to make their mark on World Earth 🌍 Day as they were learning all about Laudato Si, put simply - an open letter from Pope Francis to the people of the world, urging us all to take better care of the beautiful world God made for us to share. Well done Year 2!

Today is World 🌍 Earth Day! To mark this occasion, our Mini Vinnies were hard at work in our prayer garden 🪴 supported by Mrs O’Hara as they prepared the space for the spring/summer. Thank you to you all! If you look closely, you will get a sneak peek at one of our new Catholic Social Teaching art creations, designed and created by our KS2 children.

Today our school community gathered together on a beautiful Spring morning to mark the beginning of the Season of Easter. Thank you to Father Paul for celebrating Mass and to everyone involved in preparing for this occasion. Our Year 5 children showed great confidence and maturity leading the liturgy. A delightful start to our Summer Term. We feel very blessed.

May the joy of Easter fill your hearts with renewed faith and hope.
