What an interesting morning we’ve had at Squirrels Pre-School, Delamere Park!

We found a lizard in the bathroom! 🦎

After some research we discovered that it was a common/viviparous lizard which are native to the UK!

We researched where this type of lizard like to live and found that it likes to live in hedgerows and undergrowth! 🌲🌳

We also found out that this type of lizard are insectivores meaning they like to eat flies🪰 , spiders 🕷️ , small insects 🐜 , caterpillars 🐛 and other tiny invertebrates!

After having a good look and naming the lizard Steve, the children put on their coats and we went for a walk to the field where we released our new little friend back into his natural habitat!

We’re delighted to introduce a new special offer for our 2-year-olds+ who attend Squirrels for their full 15-hour funded entitlement. 💚

As part of the offer, children will be able to enjoy ONE FREE additional session every week during term time! 🎉

It’s a wonderful opportunity for our little ones to have more time to play, learn, explore, build confidence and spend time with their friends. 💚

We currently have a Friday afternoon session available, subject to availability.🐿️✨

🌟 That’s a wrap on another fantastic year at Squirrels! 🌟

As we come to the end of the academic year, we’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our wonderful children, families, staff and Committee for making this year so special. Your support and kindness throughout the year mean so much.

To our children moving on to school, we are so proud of each and every one of you. It has been a privilege to watch you grow in confidence, learn new skills and create so many happy memories. We wish you all the very best for your exciting new adventure—you’ll all be amazing! 🎓💛

We hope everyone has a wonderful summer filled with fun, laughter and special memories. We can’t wait to welcome returning and new families back in September for another exciting year of learning, play and adventure! 🌿🐿️

Jump, jump, jump! 🤸💚

Our movement space took on a new challenge this afternoon when the children decided they wanted to explore jumping into different spaces. They worked together to add the steps themselves, making the activity even more exciting and challenging!

Following children’s ideas like this helps develop gross motor skills, balance, coordination and confidence, while encouraging problem-solving, resilience and lots of smiles along the way. 🫶🏼

After lots of energetic jumping, some of the children chose to lie down for a little rest, listening to their bodies and taking a moment to recharge before joining in again. These self-regulation moments are just as important as the active play itself🧘‍♂️

We love seeing their creativity and curiosity lead the learning! 🌿

Yesterday our children had great fun measuring one of the grown-ups using building blocks! They counted, compared, estimated and explored measurement through play.

This hands-on activity supports the EYFS Mathematics curriculum, helping children develop early maths skills in a fun and meaningful way.

How we’ve stayed cool today! ☀️
We spent the morning on the field under the trees with the breeze rustling through the leaves 🍃
We have stopped for lots of water breaks (and ice-lollies too) making sure to sit down and have a rest! 🧊 🍦
We have spent time exploring ice in the water tray, filling up our giant tuff tray to make a paddling pool, pouring the water over ourselves & relaxing! 💧
