We were very grateful to Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service who delivered an extremely detailed and informative Water Safety presentation to the whole school today. Students had a 45 minute talk about the potential dangers of water and were given sound advice about what to do in the event of a water emergency.
We continue to remember the families of those who have sadly lost their lives recently in water-related accidents, locally, nationally, and beyond.
If you are a parent/guardian of a teenager. Please take a few minutes to talk to them about these life-saving points:
💧 Open water is dangerous - cold water shock, hidden hazards and strong currents can catch even strong swimmers out. Encourage safer options like supervised swimming pools.
🛟 If they get into trouble, FLOAT - don’t panic or thrash. Floating can help them regain control of their breathing and stay safe.
📞 Never try to rescue someone themselves - call 999 immediately and use the what3words app to give the exact location.
Please share this message. The more people who see it, the more tragedies we can help prevent.

Former St Nicholas Sixth Form student, Ronan, studied Chemistry, Biology and Sports Science and AS Level Maths from 2020 to 2022. He is currently a Foundation Year 2 (FY2) doctor in Edinburgh and is due to start specialty training in Psychiatry in August 2026.
Ronan shares his favourite sixth form memories:
Playing cards/having a laugh with friends in the common room. The socials and celebrations when we finished Sixth Form were really enjoyable times. I enjoyed having freedom in Sixth Form and a new level of independence.
Additionally, I appreciated being taught by many of the same teachers as in high school – as you benefit from already having a professional relationship with them. The small class sizes were advantageous from a learning point of view and provided opportunities to make new friends.

What a fantastic evening we had last Friday at the Year 13 Leavers' Ball in Chester. It was a memorable night full of fun, friendship, and celebration. Everyone looked stunning, and it was lovely to see the students enjoying themselves and creating lasting memories together. We are incredibly proud of them and wish them every success in the next chapter of their lives.
We are delighted to welcome our Sixth Form applicants into school today 🎓✨
This is a fantastic opportunity to experience Sixth Form life, meet staff and fellow students, and take the next step on your journey with us.
