In 2015, I got my first peri guitar tutor job with Upbeat Music and Arts. I had done a bit of teaching before, but this was the job that really got things going for me.

When one of my year 6 students left for high school in 2017, his mum made this for me. It’s been on various walls since then, and I look at it whenever I’m having a bad week to remind me that I’m giving people a hobby and a reality escape for life.

I hope Dylan is out there still playing guitar wherever he is.

This week I handed out my practice challenge sheets to keep everyone motivated over the summer whilst routine changes and practice sessions are forgotten about.

Every one of my students that brings back a completed sheet will get a goodie bag full of treats that are age appropriate and probably a bit personalised.
