I can’t believe I haven’t even advertised this yet and my new evening class is already almost half full 🙈 I am so lucky with amazing parents who recommend me, especially since I am clearly terrible at advertising myself!

👩‍🏫 I will be going back to the classroom part time in September, hence the reduced home ed offering (sorry)

🚫 I am taking no more 1:1 bookings, with a long waitlist and reduced time, current students will be my priority

✅ Due to demand I have decided to run an evening group class aimed at Year 11 Foundation GCSE (aiming for a grade 4/5)

*All lessons will commence week of 2nd September. They are via zoom and each class has a Google classroom set up for resources ☺️

What a day!! I love love love results day and the excitement as the news trickles through. I’ve had emails, messages, voice notes and even a lovely student dropping flowers round for me - I’m so lucky!! Very very proud of you all 👏 👏 👏

BEST OF LUCK with the paper 2 today!! I have 6 students heading in, 2 are doing iGCSE meaning it’s their last maths paper (bet they’re totally sad they may never get to do maths again 😫😂). Can’t wait to hear how it goes and will be keeping everything crossed it goes great for all of you 🤩

Important words for anyone feeling anxious with upcoming exams 😵‍💫

“You have whatever you need within you”

I dropped out of 6th year at school with an eating disorder (despite perfect grades).

I left university after a few months following a nervous breakdown.

I barely managed to keep a job throughout my twenties, never mind a career, due to poor mental health, lack of coping skills and possible undiagnosed neurodiversion.

I have no training or further educational prowess…despite a foretold ‘unfulfilled academic potential’; a phrase which requires so much support for many of us to achieve.

In my mid 40s, I began something new…

A few years later I am now a Sunday Times Bestselling author and a ‘success’ in a category which is seen as only for an elite few. I outsold every other poet in the UK the last two years over.

I am asked to speak to young people as an example of inspirational prowess.

I am invited to speak to all manner of wonderful humans, who simply enjoy the words that tumble out of my mind.

I am able to write for a living, something I only ever believed to be a fantasy.

This is not a brag, my friends, please please hear me on that. I am not someone who counts my achievements for anything other than good use.

And I refuse to attach my self-worth to something that moves.

A thing I learned the hard way.

This is simply, and I hope, powerfully, a reminder…

that you have whatever you need within you

and whilst qualifications are important, your belief in your self, your passion for your pathway, is much more powerful.

And your dreams, your desires need not be folly or fancy.

People are out there making them real, every day.

Whether that starts from youth or from the middle point in life, where we suddenly wake up from a slumber of ‘doing’ and realise we haven’t been living.

This world is yours for the moulding, my friends, and remember… dreams can be whatever you like. They can be small and wholesome, or large and dazzling.

You may dream of a peaceful life or one filled with noise and adventure.

Whatever it is, you can have it.

You should have it.

And I believe you must have it.

If I had told everyone age 17 I wanted to be a poet… they may have laughed. I’m sure they would have discouraged me.

So, here I am, ready to encourage you.. to reach into your solar plexus and pull out your ‘plan’.

The one the world said no to. Or they would have, had you been brave enough to speak it.

But you are brave enough now. Or at least wise enough to do it afraid.

Or at least you have learned that bravery is available when you need it, even if it feels absent it will swoop in like a superhero just at the right moment. It won’t let you down.

Just begin… the world may not recognise your contribution immediately but the universe will.

And it’s her you need on side.

All classes and 1:1’s are back on this week and I’m very excited to get going again!

We’ve had a wonderful time in Copenhagen, so nice to get away. Landed home just before 5pm last night and got straight back ON IT with 1:1’s at 7pm and 8pm (mock season!) 🥴

Did you know, between 2013 and 2016 I lived and taught in Vietnam 🥰 it was one of the best things I did and some of the highs of my career:

🇨🇳 Leading a Year 9 (whole year) 4 day residential to Phong Nha
🇨🇳 Helping to host the maths FOBISIA competition
🇨🇳 Taking my dance / cheer team to compete (for the first time 🌟)
🇨🇳 Directing a staff panto AND staff flashmob (students loved it 😂)
🇨🇳 Generally working with such great and fun (not that I told them that 🤪) students

Well with Lunar New Year being celebrated this weekend it’s sent me on a little trip down memory lane 🥰 so here’s a few pics of my time there, plus our trip into Manchester today to watch the infamous dragon dance to celebrate with our three littles

My KS3 class had me cracking up earlier with this puzzle 😂 see now, I’m really rubbish at these types of things! My students tend to laugh at me and just don’t get how I can’t see it 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ but today I fully had an ally in my struggles and it was really making me giggle!
