Term time only

My name is Donna, I'm 40 something years old! (ahem!)
I am an Ofsted registered and insured childminder with the added benefit of an NNEB (National Dipolma in Childcare). I studied for this at the College of Food, Tourism and Creative Studies in Birmingham in the 90’s. I have recently been graded as a "GOOD" childminder by OFSTED. I've been married to my husband for over 20 years. He's a carpet fi

tter/floor layer and runs his own business. We have two teenage children. We own a non-smoking house in Northfield and ask visitors to respect this. We also have 3 friendly cats. I offer full and part time places for children aged 0-5 years. I also offer a before and after-school service for children. My hours of business are 7:30-5pm (I can be flexible if needed) Term time only
I can provide a drop-off and pick up service from St. Laurence infant & junior school. I also pick up/drop off from Northfield Quaker Preschool. Our days are structured but I allow for flexibility, I believe it's important for children to be allowed to make choices. Our days are filled with playgroups, arts and crafts activities, outings to the local parks to feed the ducks, baking, storytime, but ,more importantly, fun. Flutterby's Childminding aim's to provide the best care to your little ones, and a great service to all mums and dads!

This!

People: “You get to play with kids all day. That sounds like so much fun!”

Meanwhile, in daycare…

“I need to potty!”

“She looked at me!”

“My sock feels weird.”

“He licked me.”

“I didn’t want the blue cup. I wanted the OTHER blue cup.”

Someone pooped.

Someone else took their shoes off for absolutely no reason.

A toddler is crying because you peeled the banana… exactly how they asked you to.

You microwaved the chicken nuggets for 14 seconds instead of 15, so apparently you’ve ruined their entire day.

And somehow, while all of this is happening, you’re supposed to teach, clean, comfort, answer parents, fill out paperwork, and remember whose water bottle belongs to who.

So the next time someone tells you that you “just play with kids all day…”

Just smile.

They wouldn’t last until snack time. 😂💜

We had the pleasure of attending a wonderful teddy bears picnic at playgroup today.
We had a great time . We all wore teddy bear ears, even the grown ups!! There was a lady from Tiny Talk who showed us a few signs in BSL and played Going on a Bear Hunt and sang lots of lovely songs. Then we enjoyed a wonderful picnic full of wonderful food.
The ladies kindly gave us all a party bag full of gifts too.

It’s the final week of term, so we’re having a fun themed week! ❤️❤️❤️

Is your school leading SEMH support - or constantly reacting to the next crisis?

That’s not a criticism. In many schools, the pressure is relentless 😱

As SEMH needs have gone up, we've seen more dysregulated pupils needing support, more staff needing guidance and more parents needed reassurance.

All while the normal demands of school life have carried on like nothing's changed.

But when firefighting becomes the default, it’s hard to move the school forward.

At the National SEMH Conference, Emma Shackleton will be delivering her keynote, Firefighting to Forward Planning.

Drawing on decades of expertise supporting schools, Emma will explore how leaders can think more strategically about SEMH - and embed an approach that's less reactive, more joined-up and more effective across the whole school.

For leaders, this is about creating the school-wide conditions for calmer pupils and more confident staff - and far fewer days where everyone is simply trying to survive the next crisis.
