🤟✨ Communication Comes in Many Forms ✨🤟

In Discovery, we are continuing to embrace and promote the use of sign language as part of our everyday learning and communication.

This wonderful video shows some of our children confidently using signs they have been learning at nursery. Sign language helps children express themselves, supports early communication and language development, and encourages inclusion by helping everyone feel heard and understood.

By incorporating sign language into our daily routines, songs, stories, and activities, we are creating an environment where communication is accessible, engaging, and fun for all children.

We are so proud of how enthusiastically our little learners have embraced signing and how it has become a natural part of nursery life. 💜

Every sign learned is another way to connect, communicate, and build confidence. We look forward to continuing this journey and raising awareness of the many benefits sign language can bring to young children.

We are incredibly proud to share that one of our talented team members, Angel, has written a children's book, The Princess Noelle Chronicles! 💜📚

"Join Princess Noelle on a magical adventure through the enchanting world of Ever Winter, where dragons, dinosaurs, giants, pirates, loyal friends, and unforgettable discoveries await around every corner."

What makes the story even more special, is how Little Learners is featured in it's own chapter within the book. Princess Noelle and Gus Visit Little Learners, and bring a touch of magical Ever Winter sparkle to the wonderful world our children enjoy every day. Filled with imagination, friendship, learning, and adventure, it's a very special tribute to our nursery community.

How amazing is it to think that our little learners may one day read this story and recognise a place that has played such an important part in their early years? ✨

It’s that time of year again in the Outdoor classroom where we’ve got the school uniforms out for everyone to try on. Everyone has been excited to see how they would look when it comes time to wear their own school uniform. This has also led to lots of stories from children who have already been to see their new schools and have met their teachers. We have also been matching different bits of uniform together so that we’re wearing all the same school as much as possible. With everyone so excited about their new schools wee will be extending this over the next couple of weeks with some pictures of the actual schools so that they can get used to the building they will actually be going to.

"If children don't grow up knowing about nature and appreciating it, they won't understand it, and if they don't understand it, they won't protect it, and if they don't protect it, who will?"- Sir David Attenborough 🌿

Happy 100th birthday, Sir David Attenborough! 🌍🎉

Expressions celebrated Sir David Attenborough turning 100 with a birthday party this week.. using some beautiful books to extend learning! Happy birthday to Sir David Attenborough who is 100 years old today. 🔎🐌

Many years back David discovered a loves nature and animals. He became fascinated by all the species he read about in books and wished he could meet them in real life. David decided to become a naturalist. He studied geology and zoology obtaining a degree in natural science. David began to work as a broadcaster and brought animals into the studio. They proved to be very entertaining guests. David wanted to film the animals in their natural habit, their homes. He went on trips all over the world. One of his shows, wildlife on one became the most popular show on tv in British history. David was honoured for his incredible documentaries about life on our planet, he also recieved a knighthood and today is know as Sir David. Lots of animals have been named after him. He continues his work today and believes that people have the power to preserve our planet. He suggests that there are always things to explore if you take the time to look for them.

We celebrated Sir David’s birthday by taking time to go on our own adventure, looking for bugs and collecting treasures in our outdoor environment. We took some magnifying glasses, notebooks and binoculars with us. We created a little environment for the bugs and spent time observing and caring for them.

Earth Day-Our Power, Our Planet ♻️🚮

We decided to focus on what we can do collectively to support sustainability and care for the world around us. We held discussions about waste and recycling and many children recognised their waste disposal routines at home, some even detailed the process of composting using food waste. We broke waste down into general, recycled, food and garden then decided what goes where. Children were enthusiastic using the different bins throughout the week and learning about where waste goes once it’s leaves us.

Today connections celebrated earth day via multi media, such as play dough, paint and photograph!

Outer space has been an running interest in preschool over the last few months and the children frequently make different planets out clay and play dough. Today we used green and blue play dough to make earth. We have reminded ourselves of our space facts today through songs🌎🌏🌍

“We live on Earth” - AS
“It’s the planet of dinosaurs” - DT
“It’s green and blue” “green is the pants and blue is the sea” - EM
“The green is where people land” - JS
