Miss Rhiannon and our toddlers enjoyed a lovely storytime outdoors in our cosy book area today. 💚

The children settled down together to explore stories, look at the pictures and share their ideas, creating a calm and inviting space where their imaginations could come to life. ✨📖

Reading outdoors provides wonderful opportunities to develop language and communication skills, listening and attention, imagination and a love of books. It also encourages children to share stories and conversations with their friends while enjoying the fresh air and natural surroundings. 🌳

Today, our babies had a wonderful time exploring our dinosaur small world area with Miss Jo! 🦕🌿

The babies were encouraged to explore, investigate and use their senses as they discovered the dinosaurs, natural materials and different textures within the small world. Some little ones enjoyed touching and moving the dinosaurs, while others watched closely, listened and explored the environment at their own pace.

Small world play supports so many areas of development, including fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, sensory development and early communication. As the babies reach, grasp, pick up and move the dinosaurs, they are developing their physical skills, while their curiosity and exploration help to build early problem solving and thinking skills.

With Miss Jo alongside them, the babies were also able to build their confidence, share attention and develop their social and emotional skills through a shared experience. 💚

🌿🎨 Nature Paintbrushes! 🎨🌿

Miss Jenny and our babies have been getting creative outdoors, making their very own nature paintbrushes before exploring paint on a large canvas! 🖌️🍃

Using natural materials, the babies enjoyed discovering different textures, shapes and movements as they dipped their nature brushes into paint and made their marks across the canvas. 💚

This lovely experience supported their sensory development, hand eye coordination and early mark making skills, while encouraging curiosity and exploration. The large canvas gave the babies plenty of space to move their arms, reach, stretch and experiment with different ways of making marks⭐️

Being outdoors also provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature and the world around them, while developing confidence and independence through open ended creative play. 🌳✨

🌈👣 Colour Mixing Fun! 👣🌈

Miss Rhiannon and our curious toddlers have been getting creative on the decking area, investigating colour mixing!

As the toddlers explored the colours with their feet, they were developing their sensory awareness by feeling different textures and temperatures, while also strengthening their gross motor skills, balance and coordination as they moved around the decking.

The children were encouraged to explore, predict and investigate what happened when colours mixed together, supporting their early understanding of cause and effect, problem solving and curiosity. 🌈

They were also building their language and communication skills as they listened to new words such as mix, blend, wet, colour and talked about what they could see and feel💪🏻

Most importantly, the experience encouraged confidence, independence and a love of learning, giving the toddlers the freedom to explore through their senses and learn through meaningful play 👣

🌟 Phonics Fun with Miss Ellie-Rose! 🌟

Today, our Preschool children had lots of fun exploring phonics and familiar words through a sensory shaving foam activity! 🫧🔤

Inspired by the much loved story Toy Story 🤠🚀the children enjoyed recognising and exploring familiar words and sounds, using their fingers to form letters and words in the shaving foam.

It was a fantastic way to make early phonics fun, handson and memorable, while encouraging mark-making, communication and confidence with sounds. 💕✨
