I hope that you are all having a nice break. My summer students are working hard! Lots of further study which is resulting in some fantastic progress and a head start for the new academic year.

Tomorrow's lessons will include GCSE Pythagoras theorem and algebra work. The A-level will include trigonometry, logarithms and parametric equations.

Notice for GCSE students - paper 1 is done and out of the way! You have two more papers up which can easily make up for any marks that you feel you lost in that annoying non calculator paper (I'm looking at you AQA!)

We now have a rough idea of topics that may come up in paper 2 and 3. Corbett maths has posted some papers and that will help hone in on those. Here is the link for that - https://corbettmaths.com/more/practice_papers/

Honestly, you're all doing great! Just remember that if you get a question or two or even five in the exam that utterly bamboozle you then don't panic and move on. You're not expected to achieve 100% Don't let these questions stop you trying other questions that you can hulk smash (Carrots, tunnels, no expanding brackets and some squares on a graph come to mind...)

Throwback Thursday =

One of my students is looking at applying for a degree in astrophysics at Loughborough University and I thought I would share a picture of myself at my PhD graduation on 12/12/13 from Loughborough.

I cannot begin to tell you how difficult a PhD is, even Alexa doesn't know what my thesis is about! Fortunately I was able to achieve this monumental qualification and I will forever be known as Dr Luke (it does not get old, trust me). I also cannot thank my family and close friends who supported me so much through this time and for their support now with Doctor Maths!

I will be in London on Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th January as it's my 31st birthday. I'll be back to teaching on Wednesday 31st January.
