Back in January, a group of our Year 6s headed to Sponne School for a taste of secondary DT, and came home with pencil cases they'd made themselves. Sanding, countersinking, screwing, finishing belt, the lot, all handled safely and sensibly. The Sponne staff were full of praise for them. One of the loudest days of our year, and we mean that as a compliment. Back in March the Rock Kidz team took over the school for a day about kindness, with a lot of singing, jumping and clapping. It finished in dance battles between staff and children, which we'll say ended in an honourable draw. Look back at the full story here: https://www.nicholashawksmooracademy.com/rockkidz-day/

We already have quite a few of our pupils, past and present involved in this, with some now progressing up the squads and representing the club at open and county galas. A great club with a lot to offer in an incredible sport.
Why not get in touch for a free trial on a Thursday evening?
Worried your child isn't "fast enough" for a swimming club? That's not how this works. We've got squads for all abilities, and the first session costs nothing. π
DDSC Towcester Academy runs every Thursday, 6:30 to 8pm at Towcester Leisure Centre, and we're looking for new faces to join us.
It's the step up after Learn to Swim. Proper coaching, a squad to train with, and the chance to race for a local club that's genuinely competitive. We've got squads across a range of abilities, so nobody gets thrown in at the deep end (well, not in the scary sense anyway).
β
High quality coaching
β
A friendly, competitive local club
β
Squads for all abilities
β
Training that builds towards racing
Swimmers need to be at Towcester 'Learn to Swim' stage 5 or 6 and above. First session is a FREE TRIAL, so come and give it a go before you commit to anything.

Rewinding to the summer term, our first ever Hawksfest took over the school field. Live bands who gave their time for free, rides, craft stalls and a Reptile Man, with Year 6 planning and running their own enterprise stalls from start to finish. The forecast was awful and families turned up in wellies anyway, staying far longer than the weather deserved. Together the community raised Β£3,004.25.

Back in April, forty of our children from Years 1 to 6 pulled on their trainers for the Mini-London Marathon, joining 20,000 young runners from across the country. There were warmups with Joe Wicks and the Gladiators, some brilliant finish times, and buckets of determination on a hot day.

One of the spring's best days out: Year 2 headed to Silverstone, exploring the famous circuit, trying on real F1 race suits and helmets, and getting hands-on with car parts and tyres. They even raced the track on the simulator.

Casting back to the spring, our pupils lit up The Venue in Milton Keynes for a wonderful evening of performance. The Year 5 and 6 Drama Club opened with scenes from Shakespeare, our Dance Club followed with a beautiful routine, and Year 6 closed the night with a striking performance of Romeo and Juliet. A real showcase of talent, on stage and behind the scenes.

A summer-term highlight worth revisiting: the INSPIRE team from Volkswagen Group UK spent a day with our children exploring how cars are made, how electric vehicles work, and where the world's raw materials come from. The highlight was designing their own green-powered vehicles of the future.

One from the autumn: some of our Year 5 and 6 girls had a brilliant morning at the Girls Rugby Festival at Bugbrooke RFC. Teaming up with local schools, they threw themselves into a day of energy and teamwork, all in the spirit of England's world champion Red Roses.

Back in the autumn term, 1666 came to life for Year 2 as they spent a whole day exploring the Great Fire of London. Hands-on activities, plenty of history and a real feel for how the fire tore through the city. The kind of day that makes learning stick.
