Some of our preschool children visited the residents of Avery Care Home this week. We had a lovely time meeting the residents, playing with balloons, singing nursery rhymes and reading stories. It was such a valuable experience for both the children and the residents to be able to spend time together.

This week we have been learning about recycling items and looking after the planet. We took a small group of children out into the local area to take part in a litter pick. The children looked out for any rubbish on the streets and used litter pickers to pick the rubbish up and place in a bag. They then brought the litter back to nursery where it was disposed of correctly.
We have now introduced a food waste caddy at nursery and children are learning to put their food scraps, left over from snack or lunchtime, into the food caddy so it can be recycled.
If you have a recycling bin/food waste caddy at home then please show your child which items are placed in each bin, as this daily task can support your child to learn about helping the environment.

Last week the church were having some roof work completed and a Telehandler forklift arrived! (at least that's what we think its called!)The children were extremely excited to see this and showed huge curiosity in what it was doing. The children watched as it was driven onto the grass area and it's forks lifted a pallet. We moved the children to inside the nursery to ensure safety, whilst they lifted the pallet high up to the roof. Staff still took a couple of sneaky pictures so they could show the children of how high it could reach.

If your child turns four on or before 31 August 2027, you can now apply for a Reception place.

If your child is in Year 2 at infant school, you can now apply for a Year 3 place at Junior school.

What a lovely first week back we have had. All the children have settled back into nursery really well and we have welcomed new children this week too as well as our new staff member Sarah.

The children have loved our new playdough station and our role play areas. We have created some extra space to introduce a calm area with lights and sensory resources and we will soon have the addition of a bubble tube too.
