Castle Academy is excited to meet you, Leon!
Our annual EMAT Torch Relay is back for 2026 and gets under way on Monday featuring another group of incredible Olympic stars.
We'll be joined by Commonwealth Games gold medallist judoka Nekoda Davis - Judo Athlete, Leon Greenwood, who competed for Team GB at this year's Winter Olympics in the bobsleigh competition, Paralympic archer Tania Nadarajah, hockey player Grace Balsdon, who scored the winning goal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games to secure the bronze medal for Team GB, and Paralympic gold medallist Laura Sugar MBE, who has competed in athletics, canoeing and hockey, all thanks to GB Olympians and The Mintridge Foundation.
These elite athletes will join the EMAT Torch as it travels from school to school next week where all of our 5,000 pupils will take part in a fun run or walk. The pupils will also have a unique opportunity to talk to them about the highs and lows of their sporting careers.
Watch this space next week for photos!

Congratulations Mr Houssen!
Well done to the May of the Month winner - Ismael Houssen, an Inclusion Support Practitioner at Castle Academy. The colleague who nominated Ismael said that "his expertise in the classroom is highly valuable. One of the things as a teacher is to be able to trust that when you are not in the classroom, the person delivering your lesson is able to model the way you teach and deliver lessons at the same expectations - Ismael does this, and ensures that he is organised, even at short notice." Congratulations Ismael!

Our students had a fantastic time taking their learning outdoors on Friday!
They enjoyed exploring, investigating and working together in the fresh air, making the most of activities that brought their learning to life. It was wonderful to see their curiosity, confidence and teamwork shine outside the classroom.

Exciting news! We are very pleased to be collaborating with The McCarthy-Dixon Foundation on their new mobile community shop initiative. NIA will be one of their local hubs/collection points for their low-cost shop, providing a selection of fresh produce, tinned goods, and other everyday essentials. Stock will vary each week depending on availability.
We are hopeful that this opportunity will make a huge difference to lots of our families, as well as the wider community.
Please share with anyone who would benefit from the support, which is available for all.
