How does time pass so quickly?

It's hard to believe it's a year already, but it's time for our new children to keep an eye on their postbox. We are all so excited to meet you

How many countries do you think make up the heritage of our children?

Culture day was a great success, the dance workshops from The Education Group had our children's feet tapping whether from African drums, American Cheerleading or the Spanish dancing you see here. With 8 different countries dance styles all of the children had the opportunity to celebrate a different culture and their smiles told us just how much they enjoyed them!

As a school we are always looking at ways to improve our environment and maximise our space for the best use by the children.
Mr York has big plans for this storage cupboard, but what would YOU change it into? Please let us know your suggestions below

Reception Class (with a cheeky appearance by a Y1 child) wanted to send their support to year 6 as SATs week looms. We think they nailed it!

Please comment with your message of support or advice for all children taking tests over the next few weeks.

For everyone taking tests and exams we want to send all of you good luck. We know it seems all consuming now but you are always more than any test result can show.

What do we mean by community? At Hunsbury Park, we believe that being part of a school community also means being part of the wider community too. As a school we're passionate about playing an active role in working with and supporting the causes that matter in our community.

Recently we welcomed council representatives, Councillor Pinder Chauhan, members of Friends of West Hunsbury Park and representatives from St Benedict's Church to school. Together we were planning exciting ways we can serve and strengthen our local community.

These partnerships are a brilliant example of one of our key school values in action: responsibility. We're so proud of our pupils, staff and partners for embracing the spirit of community engagement and we look forward to sharing more examples soon!

Today's the day! Our Reception class for 2026/27 found out they were joining us in September and we just wanted to say how much we are looking forward to them being part of the Hunsbury Park Primary Community

Can you judge these children from their photographs? Do you know which ones have overcome difficulties or indeed are still struggling with them now? Can you tell who is kind and gentle? Who is a natural leader? Who can conquer their fears and who will try and try and try again? Who speaks multiple languages fluently?

These images capture a moment in time, the same as SATs. They can't show the whole child, they can only show one aspect, they can only tell part of the story.

As a school we are aspirational, we want our children to aim high, but we also want them to know they are more than data, more than a score, their value does not lie in the results of a test for 11 year olds. We want their time in school to be enriching and for them to leave us as confident members of society with a love for learning.

Is it really simple things that bring the most joy?
We asked our children what brought them joy and, as you would hope, family, friends and pets featured heavily, but the first one is maybe slightly more contentious 😂⚽️.

Let us know in the comments - what brings you joy?

Resilience and perseverance are two of our school values and we saw them in abundance on our school residential. Just one example, one of our boys is sporty and boxes competitively but we didn't realise he was terrified of heights. At one of the first activities, the challenge was too much and he was brought down after the emotions became too much for him. He was so disappointed with himself despite our support and reassurance that just having a go was enough.

At the end of the session he asked if there was enough time to try again, and he did it! This set of images show just how proud and happy he was to overcome that fear. I have to admit that at this point the tears were in the eyes of the teachers

In the words of Mandela, "I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear"

With SATs approaching there is a danger of putting too much pressure on our year 6 children. Revising is important but there are ways to make it fun and engaging, such as this SPAG relay, you can hear how much fun they are having as they compete against each other to complete their paper!
