The British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing is the focal point of NDT in the UK. It is the professional institute for all those engaged in non-destructive testing, condition monitoring, diagnostic engineering and all other materials and quality testing disciplines. It is concerned with the education and training of its members, and the advancement of the science and practice of the subject.

SHM Requirements Workshop 2026: only two weeks to go!
It's not too late to register for the Workshop on Accelerating Adoption of Structural Health Monitoring Technologies, taking place on Tuesday 20 October 2026 at the Manufacturing Technology Centre, Coventry, UK. This event is organised by the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT), in collaboration with the UK Research Centre in Non-Destructive Evaluation (RCNDE).

Offers of presentations are now invited for the 'Attendee reflections and open contributions' session. Abstracts (of no more than 200 words) should be emailed to: [email protected]

A commercial session for exhibitors will run alongside the workshop, on Tuesday 20 October 2026, showcasing the latest products, innovations and technology available to industry. This is an excellent opportunity for visitors to meet with industry colleagues, network and learn about the very latest NDT, CM and SHM technologies and services available from around the world.

There is a restriction on the number of spaces available and they are allocated on a 'first-come, first-served' basis. If you are interested in exhibiting at this event or for further information, contact Karen Cambridge ([email protected]) or Sharon McNally ([email protected]).

When does an ASNT 9712 certificate meet ISO 9712 requirements?
The European Federation for Non-Destructive Testing (EFNDT) has published an official communication on the ASNT 9712 certification programme and its relationship to ISO 9712 certification in Europe.
Key Message
Where ISO 9712 certification is required by legislation, regulations, standards, contracts or customer specifications, organisations must verify that the certificate presented actually fulfils those requirements. An ASNT 9712 certificate should not automatically be assumed to be equivalent to an ISO 9712 certificate issued by an accredited certification body.
