We are excited to share our recent Student Spotlight. Year 4 student, Diya recently made a truly inspiring and selfless donation of 12 inches of her hair to the Little Princess Trust, a wonderful charity that provides real-hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair due to illness. 💛
This thoughtful act will make a meaningful difference to someone in need, bringing comfort and confidence during a very challenging time.
Diya reminds us all that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a powerful impact on others. ✨

Our Year 12 Chemistry students recently visited Wootton Park School to take part in the Royal Society of Chemistry Schools’ Analyst Competition. The event provided an excellent opportunity for students to demonstrate and further develop their practical chemistry knowledge and analytical skills through a series of exciting forensic investigations.
Working as analytical chemists, students were tasked with helping the police investigate the cause of a mysterious illness that had affected an employee at a local pharmacy. Throughout the competition, they carried out a range of laboratory techniques to gather evidence and solve the case.
Students analysed the caffeine content of a coffee sample to determine whether the drink had been tampered with. They then used thin-layer chromatography (TLC) to identify a lipstick stain found on the victim’s shirt before finally investigating a mysterious cream discovered amongst the victim’s personal belongings.
As part of the day, students also enjoyed a fascinating virtual tour of the Chemistry Department at the University of Derby, giving them an insight into higher education and careers in chemistry.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and particularly valued the opportunity to work alongside students from Wootton Park School. The competition was both challenging and rewarding, and all participants represented the school exceptionally well.

On Wednesday 3rd June, Year 3 enjoyed an exciting trip to Birdland as part of their current learning theme, ‘Under the Canopy'.
The children had the opportunity to see a wide variety of birds from around the world, including colourful parrots, flamingos and macaws. They loved exploring the park, learning interesting facts about the birds and watching feeding sessions throughout the day.
One of the highlights was the chance to hold some of the birds, which caused great excitement, especially when a few decided to land on the children's heads! The children were also thrilled to see the capybaras and giant tortoises up close.
Everyone had a wonderful day, learning more about wildlife, habitats and conservation.

🦸 🍊 Last Wednesday, our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children enjoyed a special visit from specialist dietitian and author of The Amazing Fruitables, Lucy Whiteside.
Lucy read her wonderful story to each year group before leading a series of engaging activities that helped the children discover some of the amazing benefits that fruits and vegetables can have on our bodies. The children loved learning how different nutrients work together to help us grow strong and healthy, all through a fun and imaginative superhero adventure.
The excitement continued as the children got the chance to try on superhero costumes, fully immersing themselves in the world of The Amazing Fruitables! They had a fantastic time exploring healthy eating in such an interactive and memorable way.
A huge thank you to Lucy for spending the day with us and inspiring our children through storytelling, creativity and nutrition. We thoroughly enjoyed your visit!

The Business Studies department recently set Year 10 GCSE students an exciting Cereal Box Challenge to bring their learning on marketing and the marketing mix to life.
Students were tasked with creating a brand-new breakfast cereal, complete with a unique brand identity and packaging design. The product itself had to include a blend of bran flakes, rice puffs, and dried fruit, encouraging students to think carefully about ingredients, target markets, and product positioning.
A key part of the challenge was to design a product that would appeal to health-conscious consumers—particularly parents—while also attracting children. This meant incorporating eye-catching visuals, engaging characters, and persuasive messaging that highlighted both nutritional benefits and fun appeal.
The creativity on display has been fantastic, with students demonstrating a clear understanding of branding, target audiences, and promotional strategies. The project not only reinforced classroom learning but also allowed students to experience what it’s like to think and work like real marketing professionals.
Well done to all Year 10 students for their hard work and innovative ideas! Our professional judge Mrs Akhtar supported us with the judging. Here are the pictures of some of our winners!

On Wednesday, 6EC were lucky enough to take part in “Little Engineers,” a programme provided by OTIS and delivered in the UK for the very first time. That's right! CCS were the first school in the UK to take part in this programme.
During the session, the children learned about the role of engineers and the importance of safety behind elevators and escalators. They then put their new knowledge into practice by designing and building their own hovercrafts, which they excitedly raced at the end of the session.
An inspiring day full of creativity, teamwork, and hands-on learning! The students had a brilliant time and we can't thank OTIS enough for coming and sharing their knowledge and experience.

Before we broke up for half term we welcomed a wonderful nurse and ambulance crew into our Foundation Stage as part of our ongoing learning of 'Help is at Hand'! 🚑👩⚕️
The children had a fantastic time learning all about the important work they do, how they help people in emergencies, and even exploring some of the equipment they use. It was a wonderful opportunity to help our young learners understand the vital role these services play in keeping our community safe.
A huge thank you to our visitors, for taking the time to come into school and inspire the children with such an engaging and informative session. We really appreciate everything you do! 💙

A special thank you to Julie, who joined us for the day, sharing her passion for the local community and supporting the children throughout the activities.
