🎨 Chalk, Water & Wow Moments Outdoors! 💦🌿

The children enjoyed a child-led chalk activity in the garden, drawing freely on the fence and patio. This supported creativity, mark making and large-scale movements while making the most of our outdoor space.

Curiosity took over when the children decided to add water — water was poured and we watched closely as the chalk changed, melted and swirled. This sparked lots of excitement and helped the children explore cause and effect.

The children then dipped the chalk into water, noticing how the texture felt different and how the colours became brighter and smoother on the ground. A lovely opportunity for sensory exploration and descriptive language.

To finish, all the chalk was placed on a spinny chair and spun around to see it fly off in every direction! Lots of laughter, movement and amazement as the children observed what happened.

Today we went puddle hunting! We walked, ran and splashed through puddles, sang We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and acted it out as we moved 🐻👣
