🍂🍁 Autumn is just around the corner! 🍁🍂

As the seasons change, we’d love your help collecting some lovely natural autumn materials for our nursery children to explore and use in our activities. 🌳🧡

If you’re out and about enjoying the autumn weather, we would be grateful for any of the following:

🌰 Conkers
🍂 Leaves in all different colours
🌿 Sticks and twigs
🌲 Pine cones
🌰 Acorns
🌱 Seed pods and seeds
🪶 Feathers
🌿 Moss and lichen
🌳 Pieces of fallen bark

Please only collect items that are safe to gather and already fallen, rather than picking or breaking anything from living plants or trees.

Every little collection will help our children explore, investigate, create and learn through nature. 🍁🐿️

Miss Megan and Miss Emily are putting their dancing skills to the ultimate test… BLINDFOLDED! 🙈😂

They’ll be listening to a series of different songs to see if they can somehow dance the same moves without even seeing each other! 🎶💃

🍂🥣 Autumn Soup in the Mud Kitchen!
Miss Jade and our toddlers have been busy exploring the mud kitchen, using the wonderful natural materials that autumn has to offer! 🍁🌿

With leaves, sticks, conkers, petals, mud and other treasures collected from our outdoor environment, the children created their very own “autumn soup”. 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

There was lots of scooping, pouring, mixing, stirring and imaginative play as the children experimented with different textures, smells and quantities. They talked about what they were adding to their soup, shared ideas with their friends and enjoyed getting messy while learning through play! 🥄🪵🍂

This wonderful experience supports the EYFS, particularly:

🌱 Understanding the World – exploring nature, seasonal changes and the natural environment.

💬 Communication & Language – developing vocabulary, listening to others and expressing ideas through imaginative play.

🤝 Personal, Social & Emotional Development – sharing resources, taking turns, playing alongside others and building confidence.

🏃 Physical Development – strengthening little hands through scooping, pouring, stirring and manipulating natural materials.

🎨 Expressive Arts & Design – using imagination and creativity to develop their own pretend recipes and stories.

Most importantly, the children were curious, creative and completely absorbed in their play proving that sometimes the best recipes are made with a little mud, lots of imagination and a handful of autumn magic! 🍂🤎✨

It has been such a lovely time welcoming our new little ones into the nursery baby room! 💕

We’re so proud of how well they are settling into their new surroundings, routines and daily adventures.

Our babies are already beginning to build beautiful, special bonds with their new key workers, who are getting to know their individual personalities, interests, routines and little quirks. 🥰

It’s also wonderful to see those first friendships beginning to blossom as the babies explore, play and enjoy new experiences alongside each other. 🧸✨

Every smile, cuddle, giggle and moment of growing confidence is so special to us, and we can’t wait to watch these relationships grow as they become more comfortable and confident in their nursery family. ❤️

🍂🍁 Exploring Autumn with Miss Maisie! 🍁🍂
Today Miss Maisie and the toddlers enjoyed exploring our autumn sensory tray, filled with natural treasures such as leaves, conkers, pinecones, twigs and acorns. 🌰🍃

As we explored, we talked about the changing seasons, noticing the different colours, textures, shapes and smells that autumn brings. The children enjoyed touching, investigating and talking about what they could see, while developing their curiosity and understanding of the natural world. 🍂

This lovely experience supported the EYFS, particularly:

🌿 Understanding the World – exploring seasonal changes and noticing the natural materials we may find outdoors.

🗣️ Communication & Language – introducing and using new vocabulary such as autumn, leaf, crunchy, smooth and rough

🤲 Physical Development – using little hands to pick up, hold, move and investigate the different objects, supporting fine motor development.

🧠 Cognitive Development – encouraging the children to explore, compare, make observations and develop their own ideas through sensory play.

Most importantly, we had lots of fun learning through hands-on exploration and play! 🍁🥰
