πŸ’š As it's ADHD awareness month, I decided to be vulnerable but authentic and share my story! (Please be kind!🫣)

A couple of months back I was assessed and had my ADHD confirmed. It's been a journey of emotional ups and downs and realisations about my life, I'm not gonna lie! πŸ˜… I think from a positive point of view, it's made me appreciate my achievements more, because I had an extra layer of struggle that no one saw! πŸ’ͺ🏻 I wouldn't change it, as it makes me who I am and I have decided to embrace it and be authentic with it personally and professionally (while still figuring out what is me and what is "mask"πŸ₯Έ!).

So I have been busy and working on some exciting projects for Green Owl (which I will tell you more about soon!🀫✨) but one of the busyings I am doing is a diploma in ADHD coaching, so I can utilise my 18 years working in the field of mental health (11 years as an Art Psychotherapist) and my 43 years lived experience to help other people with their ADHD journeys in a creative and robust way πŸ₯°.

πŸ’šThe last session of GO Create Confidence course for teens today! We looked at compassion and why it's hard to be compassionate to ourselves, we explored some techniques on how to reframe negative self-talk and did a half and half image; an image of the struggles we have with our inner critic and a compassionate response image.

I will be running some more themed groups for adults soon, so watch this space! πŸ’š

πŸ’š Today at the GO Art Therapy Create Confidence group today we learnt about polyvagal theory, how it relates to emotions and different ways to understand and regulate the nervous system and emotions. We did somatic drawing and creative reflection on the group members own emotional responses. Next week is the last session from this course and it's about developing self compassion and combatting the internal critic! πŸ’šToday in GO Art Therapy's Create Confidence course for teens, we looked at making positive connections, healthy and unhealthy relationships, consent and boundaries, reflecting on what that meant to us as individuals, finishing with an image board of a healthy & safe relationship. ✨
